Seems like there was turbulent storms all over VA yesterday.  A guy in Lynchburg was killed when a tree fell on him. Lots of people without power in Central VA.  Up North I had hail pounding and horizontal rain for 15 minutes.

I have had much more reliable power in 3rd world shitholes than the DC region, especially Nova.

We were out the second time in two weeks for a couple of hours at a time. And fuck all those people who insist on not trimming their trees by the power lines.

I could be wrong but i've heard it's actually illegal to trim trees within (i think) 3 feet of power lines. That's the responsibility of the power company.

By the time the tree branch gets within 3 feet of the power line, they have failed to meet their obligations to the power right-of-way for some time. It's not like a branch can grow three feet in a week.

It's usually an entire tree falling over, not just a branch that takes out the powerlines.

I laugh when I see all the tree trimming going on, then a few months later and the storms come, it's an entire tree that has fallen in the same place they were trimming.
