Anyone know of a spot? Anyone want to try to get something together for locals? Maybe make it a monthly get together?

I'd be interested if someone has NODS for me

Only place I know who did these types of shoots is New Holland but I dunno if they still have them and if they would do a non member shoot.

That’s too bad. Why not try to organize those shoots again yourself then? I guess you will need consent from the council?

Also, get me in plz. I’ve been on the wait list for 3.5yrs and the new lottery doesn’t work for me as I have no time to goto events

I'm thinking about it. Time is part of the problem. I'm also talking to guys at one other local club where it might be a possibility. The problem is, all of this will have to be in the fall/winter/early spring because it gets dark earlier.

I'm in the wrong corner of the state, but my range allows shooting until 11.

The ir from the security cameras can be a little annoying sometimes, but its better than not shooting at all.

Hitting 300 yard steel that you cant even see unaided is pretty cool.

If you're ever around Pittsburgh and want to shoot in the dark IM me.

I work at a indoor range part time and we shoot using nods probably once a month. Its only 25 yards max but its still trigger pulling. My boss might be interested in hosting an event if theres enough interest.

Looks like something is going to get spooled up at University Rifle Club out near Reading. But for now it is members only or you have to be a guest of a member.

@slbrugby I don't know. I was kind of the precipitating push in that happening. I've been talking to a few members who went and pitched the idea to the Board. I can try to get more information about that for sure. I'm going to end up joining as a member.

It looks like members plus guests, fee is $10 for anyone who shoots (members or guests).

Combination of white lights plus night vision.  Will be suppressed shooting only after a certain time.

I got home from the shoot a few moments ago.  I enjoyed it and look forward to (hopefully) several more in the next couple of months. A big thanks to the people who made it happen!

We had some univited guests who made their way theough the tree line. Attachment Attached File

Had a decent crowd show up. Only about a third having wizard eyes, but I expect that number to grow.

New build ran well.

I was worried that they would cancel due to weather, but they held it anyway (thankfully!). Weather wasn't bad during the shoot, although range conditions weren't perfect.

May try and convince one of you guys let me be your guest for the day on one of the next shoot

I'd say I had them on for a bit over half the time. Looked away from the brightest of lights, but they handled most things decently.  Moved through the course 3 or 4 times.

Bump to remind (or inform) people that University Rifle Club will be holding another night shoot on January 11th.  Shooting with flashlights is a worthwhile skill, but seeing in the dark is even better.  I want more people with night vision to spread this expensive sickness!

I fall all the time. I'm actually surprised I didn't given my few dashes to the other side of the course of fire.

As long as you fall gracefully and safely, it's all good. Remember, practice makes perfect.

For you guys that have been a couple of times, what do you think of the club overall?  It's 90 minutes from me but I'd love to get access to 300 yards, night shoots, etc.  Does anyone know if there are work day requirements or is it only the annual fee?

Thanks!

I've been to the club outside of this event. It's probably one of the better clubs in the general area (depending on which way you're coming from). I'm a member at New Holland so...

Thanks.  I've looked at New Holland several times but I think they require work days.  I travel a ton for work, I'm hesitant to commit to that and not be able to get it done.  (it would bother me a lot)  I wish I could just "buy out" of them, I would LOVE to be a member there...

University added a work requirement for 10 hours last year, but reduced it to 5 hours this year.  Either way you could buy out for $50.

They have various styles of competitions throughout the year.

Overall I think it's one of the better ranges in the area for the money, especially if you like shooting steel.
