Same happened to me. Renewed the month before the law took affect.

I didnt know about the new law, when did that go into effect?

I just renewed mine the first day of early voting and did not get mine free.

I believe it went into effect on election day, what was that, 11/6/18?  All active duty, retired, and honorably discharged veterans get the fees waived.  And of course I renewed mine in May.

Wish I had seen this sooner.

I got screwed.  Got my initial less than 5 years in Ohio today.  I called and the message said the DD214 had to be 10 years or newer.

Only $77 but $77 is $77.

Wonder if I can get a refund?
