If you're getting your kids to shoot it definitely counts! Mine started off shooting a single shot pellet gun in grandpa's garage and wasn't until last summer that they were able to shoot rimfire.

Airguns are a great place to instill safe handling and marksmanship fundamentals. Good job!

And I gotta ask.. does she chase them toothy gators in the boat with you?

I went to boot camp in Hollywood but was mostly an east coaster.  So PI.  I shot the range high on Starlight, then the next year I broke my own record with a 346 in 2009.  Still have the data books.  R. Lee Ermey sent me a letter and an autographed pic congratulating me.

I always snuck in a "book suppository" reference during grass week to see who understood.  Usually while they were reading their Knowlege and I noticed one with torn/worn pages.  It'd say "You need to ask your SDI to take you to the book suppository to get a new Knowlege before Final Prac."  Always got a few to chuckle.  Lol!

There was one PMI that was just a dick.  Seemed like he just wanted to be a DI.  He would walk up and down the line with a cleaning rod and whip recruits if they were doing something wrong.  One day while they were eating chow he noticed the rifle stacks weren't perfectly aligned so he knocked them all over and made them re-stack them.  Just an asshole.  The thing is, grass and firing week should be their time to relax.  Have some fun actually shooting.  A good joke every once in awhile makes them trust you because the last thing you want is a pissed off/frustrated recruit with a loaded rifle.  I had one guy from Louisiana that was obviously going to unq.  He just couldn't shoot.  I even sent him to medical to have his eyes checked.  Nothing.  On Qual Day his coach came to me and said his front sight was bent, obviously he had bent it so he could get rolled back to a different platoon and start again.  He was one of the guys that his DIs showed up and asked me to find a reason to drop him.  I don't know what happened to him, clearly he was a turd but he got his wish.  I had no choice, especially when he amidated it to me.

..annnd we're back! After much too long of a hiatus the gov't finally turned over the keys to our club.

Got to run some rounds through my new YHM R9, which if I do say so myself, pair's very nicely with the Evo Scorpion.  No action pics, sorry

Also zeroed and put 25 rounds thru my freshly chopped (16.25") Rem 700 in .243, which suppresses waaay better than I thought it would. It's going to be my dedicated deer and critter getter.
Pic of buddy getting some trigger time..

It'll sound even better on R1/2 where there are no block wall noise reflectors

I wanted to get over there but Brian had a class Sunday afternoon. I'll take it out on 7, that should give me a good idea too.

Got the little dude out for awhile today. Had a blast just watching him ring steel and call shots on clay pigeons with the .243 and my spr-ish thingy. Another absolutely gorgeous day to be at the range.

It's always a good day for some range time.  I'm going to measure down my driveway tomorrow because I have deer out there almost every afternoon.  So, I can set my bench up in the pole barn and hunt while cranking tunes.    It should be about 120yds to the tree line.

My son, FIL and I put a few rounds through the 1911, 10/22 and 870 on Saturday.  Just shooting steel and cans.  We're supposed to get around an inch of snow tonight so I'll have to take the targets down.

My son and I set up some steel in the front yard yesterday and shot out of the pole barn.  100yds.  30-06, .223 and .22.  I just wanted to verify the zero on my hunting rifle.  My wife made me move it to the range in the back yard.

Thanks.  I just finished his .243.  Savage 10 action, Northern heavy lug and barrel nut, Shillen SS heavy 26" barrel, Harris bipod, floated, bedded etc.  The stock is a wooden thumbhole stock but neither of us really like it.  He wants a chassis.  I'm just waiting for the rings to show up and then we'll mount the glass and start developing loads.  I did fire 2 factory rounds through it just to make sure everything works.

I've had him practicing mag drills with his AR.
