My wife has relatives in Natchitoches, LA, and a small town called Ashland. All I know is we have to drive through Shreveport to get there..., IIRC. She said Ashland is so small it won't show on a map...I love small towns. Not going to New Orleans or any other big city if I can help it. Nothing wrong with New Orleans - I don't like ANY big city.
Question is, of course, about gun laws. We will have our AZ CCW permits by then, (March sometime), which the various sites say is honored in LA. I would like to know if there would be any issue with an AR in the trunk, carrying more than one pistol, (sometimes I carry a BUG here in AZ), ammo restrictions, (is M855 considered Armor Piercing there?), and any specific laws I really need to be aware of? I am looking forward to brief visit, (one to two days), to your fine state and I want to be a polite and respectful guest while I am there. Thank you for your replies.

With you Arizona concealed carry is permit you are good to CCW here
For you AR, you can carry it in the passenger seat if you want
Carry number of pistols, you do you man.
And the M855 ammo it is sold here at every major sporting goods retailer for less than $15 a box.

Only two major laws, you need to be aware of.
Can not carry in a bar.
Can not carry in any place that already has armed security. (hospitals, churches, casinos)
Good rule of thumb if they check you ID on the way in, you can not carry there.

Natchitoches, is a small, VERY old college town.
The river front is them area with Ma'ma & Pa'pa's being my favorite restaurant down there.

I can make more recommendations for places to go to & eat in the Shreveport area.

Also in March, take you allergy pills !!!  start a few days before your trip!!!
The weather in March can be everything. From, cold! to rainy, to some of the best weather ever!!!  All in the same week.

Wow, I really need to check the hometown forum more often.

Natchitoches is a great town to visit. I loved my four years there.

G_S’ commentary is excellent.

And, yes, coming from AZ, you’ll want the Zyrtec!

Thank you very much - looks like job change may have derailed our plans for now, but still want to come there someday! Thank you for your reply, sir.

OP, you've been given good advice but it's always good to check usacarry.com too and keep it bookmarked on your phone so you will have it handy on the road.

I will have them by the time we make it out there - things went sideways with breast cancer and new jobs. But a plate carrier and level 4 or at least III+ are definitely in the works.
