I have not been to one in at least 5 years, but always used to like going. Buying/selling/trading etc. Kill half a day and sometimes find a good deal. Last few more local shows (smaller) I've done have been a mix or meh and hot garbage. I don't mind the $15 admit fee, but carrying a few guns for hours with nothing but low ballers and gang bangers is not my jam. Is it worth half a Saturday still???

Its all pretty much the same stuff on all the tables with some variety. With that said, I am planning on hitting up the show for powder and potentially tactical shotgun. |

I can't think of anything to say. Nada, zip, nothing.

Is this one of the Shoot Straight backed shows -- thought I remembered they were against private sales by people walking around? Do I mis-remember???

There's a show here in Manatee Co next weekend (20-21) and it will be the same ole wore out guys with the same ole overpriced stuff just like all of Mr. Akkawi's shows.

I'm old, cranky, and some might say, dangerous.

Arrived just before opening.
Not crowded at all possibly due to the potential rain. Left after about 2 hours and it was crowded by that time. Actually 2 hours 15 minutes and that is with 2 purchases. Tried purchasing both items from Shoot Straight by offering a cash deal but wasn't pleased with their "discount" and they had no interest in going lower. Purchased the 2 items from 2 different vendors and ended up being about $100 less overall than what SS offered. Either I am losing my touch haggling for prices or all the dealer got together and decided to stop discounting items. |

I bought 5 pounds of powder and saved $100 v buying online.
primers were about $70/1000, so I passed on those |

It's a shame what we have become when it comes to gun shows. I remember getting great deals from Shoot Straight and they used to set the prices at the shows. Going into their shops now, they don't have any deals and the high prices listed are what you pay. Comparatively, I find better deals at Bass Pro and Academy. Shame really.
As far as no private sales, I believe that is pretty standard in the lower half of the state sadly. |

Be the change you want in this world.

Not a complete bust as i picked up a stripped large glock frame, but no private sales has killed this show. Hard enough with internet sellers, but it was just like a big overpriced gun store for the most part. Saw a few OK potential deals, but no one wanted to trade or budge on prices.

View Quote Was their "discount" 15% off something that's already overpriced by 30%? |

I've hit the Great American Gunshow twice, wont go back again. Small venue, lots of open tables and non gun stuff. The last one I walked the entire show in 15 minutes.

Thanks, just got the email about the Great American Orlando show at the National Guard Armory. Wondered if it was worth going after the mild controversy about the "other" Orlando show.
Seems like the best shows from the past are gone. |

Looks like they jacked up the admission price
