One of the things that happened during the inexpensive Chinese radio buying frenzy is a lot of guys heard "Ham radio! I can talk all over the world for $25!" Not so. A lot of people bought the Chinese HTs thinking that only to be disappointed. Ham radio is a very broad hobby. It's generally associated with nerdy guys talking to someone overseas and that's what I generally do. The little backpack rig has done some amazing things. I have spoken to Australia with it before! I've checked with the Arfhams and they say they will try and check in with me if I go on the 4th, weather depending. I'm probably going to post a ham radio thing in the Hash and will post a link here for anyone interested. |

What's up guys. Coming out to Pittsburgh with my wife and 6 year old next weekend Plan on hitting the Carnegie Science Center and some other places. Maybe Dave and Busters as son really wants to go there Any decent hotel recommendations. Big pool for the kid is high priority. Any with indoor waterslides or anything? |

Based on your noted plans (D&B's and the science center) I can only recommend staying somewhere away from Homestead (where D&B's is located). I worked in that area years ago for a very short time, and it was rough then, and have only heard it has gotten worse. |
