I'll possibly bring a pistol or maybe a 10/22 but if you guys take a group shot and I'm in it does anyone have some kind of cannon...maybe a .50 BMG or an anti tank gun I can hold for the picture? Hmmm....now that I think about it, a 94 Winchester, huge sombrero and crossed bandoliers.

I just thought of something. I'm a licensed ham and have a military backpack rig. If one or two of you guys will help me string an antenna maybe we could get Arfhams to check in with us and put it on the air. Antenna would be a simple longwire in a tree. |

I left at 9:30-9:45 due to the drive, being covered in mud from head to toe, and not really knowing anyone to talk to or a convenient way to bullshit. Had some fun engaging the super long range steel with the ChynaLasik + Eotech; actually a lot of fun with no magnification. Made hits at 380, made a fair bit of misses. Shot at the 275 offhand a good bit and got pretty good at it. Learned shit about beams and smoke. Shot some pistol drills on the steel. Fired about ~200 rounds of rifle and like...75? Pistol - Not a lot really. No pictures. Couldn't even get into the range until it was basically pitch black. |

I know guys drive far for these (yourself included), but Ill probably never go out there as Im too tight to drive that far. Im hoping that they post the January Pitt shoot soon so I can schedule time to go. |

The next Rosedale shoot is on the 7th, same Rosedale Time, Same Rosedale Place. If there's another Pittsburgh shoot - I don't know about it. Regarding tonight; truthfully, some drainage and a pavilion and that bottom range would be all aces. There was plenty of room; but just nowhere for people to congregate or relax. Even lawn chairs wouldn't have helped; because you'd have been buried clean to the seat with how soft the ground was. |

Had a good time with the red shirt crew keeping folks safe down in the mud pit last night. Definitely a high-boots sort of evening after all the snow melted off. We enjoyed helping out a bit with BFR's night shoot and how it's already evolved since they kicked things off a few months ago with just the big square bay. With the five different shooting areas down at the bottom, we thought folks kept pretty busy and the range gave rides up and down the hill to the shoothouse that Amped was running. Anybody make it up for that? Would have loved to check out their program if I wasn't tied up. Definitely saw some lessons learned on the 65/165/270/380yd steel targets, especially after I ran down on the ebike and heated a few up with the blowtorch. Thermals are a crowd pleaser and the C35 was able to swap around between rifles and maintain no noticeable zero shift for ringing the long steel. @J-Pat I know having some lit areas to hang out and chat with other attendees is something we always encourage ranges to set up, and hoped the big balloon light running off the genny all night was enough - seemed like a decent area that guys took advantage of between shooting. A big pavilion with picnic tables would be great some day, but I know things are really super new out there and they're learning with every event how to focus their efforts and investments to make it a great spot to shoot and train. The next night shoot that we actually host is just around the corner on Jan 7 at Rosedale. Don't have quite the acreage but footwear can typically be a little less amphibious. Who had the thermal drone up in the air? Would love to see the footage from that. Here's just a few phone pics I snagged while ROing -

Because we were more or less shooting at a 360 circle around where we had parked - it was just a little awkward. It felt like no matter where you walked it would gate your nods. Due to the setup there; I'm not sure where it could be stuck and not interfere with one of the bays somehow or another. As far as BFR goes - they're learning. It's clearly a new outfit and they're working out some of the kinks. It was a good experience, mostly. I learned more there than at Rosedale about shooting at distance and illuminator limitations due to smoke and fog. Legitimately - before a pavilion, the thing I would really recommend that you forward to those guys is to consider putting in a French drain style system that flows out into that crick nearby. A few loads of limestone, and a few park style benches near that fire ring and it would turn that place into an awesome venue. The biggest problem was all the mud, truthfully |

Has the PRC 320 in the vehicle and started out and had to do a 180 as the old pickup started acting up. Something in the brakes so I drove home slowly. Maybe next shoot. |
