Howdy all! I am relocating to North Carolina in the near future. What do I need to know about living there? The "due diligence" money for home offers is kinda wonky for example, is there anything else that is unusual that I should know about?

It would help to know what part of the state you are moving to.  Home prices in a lot of areas are through the roof, so if you are in a place like the Triangle (Raleigh, Durham, Chapel Hill), expect to pay $30,000 or more over the asking price.

1st do you vote democrap?

If so please move to a liberal state like Cali , NY, NJ !

We have enough democraps here in NC.

2nd you need to come down several times over the year to see the difference in season, culture, etc

3rd look at a couple of ares you might think you want to move too and visit often as possible only way If you will truly like it.

I live in Greensboro during the week and escape to the country every weekend. It is a liberal, democrat run, shitty big city just like all the others. At least a few times a week someone gets murdered. Usually minority on minority crime, or minority on white. Not long ago a sweet, older white lady who was working at a gas station/convenience store near me was murdered by a young black kid during a robbery. She didn't resist or anything, just murdered in cold blood. Cops shot a guy a block over from my house last year, and I live in a nicer part of town.

The areas of Guilford County outside of Greensboro proper are nicer. But...

Housing prices are insane right now.

There are good people here of course, and a lot of Yankee refugees. There are good places to eat, entertainment, culture, etc. Aside from convenience for work, we would never willingly choose to live here though.

Know EXACTLY where you'll live in the Greensboro area. While that's good advice anywhere, it's important. Further away is better.  If you have a choice......

Get your NC carry permit ASAP and carry every day.

Specifically I'm looking in the Stokesdale, Oak Ridge, Summerfield area. Otherwise its likely to be Reidsville. Ive lived in central South Carolina and am anticipating mostly similar weather.

Carry permit asap is the plan. As is avoiding Greensboro proper. Bear it in mind that I currently live in Kansas City, so my personal threat levels will be decreasing by going to GReensboro.

LOL, I think it's funny when us native Tarheels "warn" folks about how rough an area is. Most are like "Only 1 shot today??? That's our hourly avg at XXXX!"

But it has changed a lot over the years.

NC in general has changed a lot over the years. Not necessarily for the better.

Lets go down the list;
- Did the army thing in TX and have lived in SC, MO, and FL; not too worried about heat stroke anymore.
- Noted, but used to live in FL where the worry was gaters.
-MO, OH, TX, and IN are all worse on the tornado front, so im less than worried about them.
-wasps are assholes. I should buy a flame thrower
-fire ant farms look really cool when you've  dumped molten aluminum down them
-climate control variations? Laughs in "midwest"
-seems like a balance problem, wear something with better ankle support maybe?
- melting groceries  laughs in "Texas temperatures"
-sunburn? Laughs in "Florida beaches"
-mosquito fistfight? Laughs in "Alaskan Mosquito skeet shooting"

If thats all, NC seems like a pretty tame state! Lol
