A long driving trip may be coming, and I may be headed through Utah.  So far it looks like I'll be coming from AZ on 89 and then linking up with I-15.  Not sure if I'll be hopping on I-80 from there or following I-15 through ID, into MT, and then connecting with I-90.

Any how, any good advice on places to stay and things to see?  I also enjoy wandering the high desert, so a good shooting spot or two would be great.

Thanks for any advice you're able to offer!

You'll be passing through Grand Escalante.

If you want to shoot, head on up to Price staying on 89, then get on I-70 NE to Salina, then East to the 10.  Head North on 10 and just before Price, turn off at the Hiawatha exit and follow the signs to North Springs Range.

It's open Thursday-Sunday.

You will not find a better range in your life, I'm betting.

Once you're done, head on up via 6 and get on I-15 North to continue your journey to ID and MT.

If you can avoid I80 through Wyoming I would, it's already been closed twice this fall because of weather.

I have zero idea how Idaho roads are in the winter but I guarantee they are better than I80 and 90 in Wyoming.

Page az is pretty. There is Antelope canyon on the rez there that is very pretty and horseshoe bend is nice bur getting very crowded.
Coming up 89 there are several great hikes, coyott buttes, toadstools, nautilus rock then stay in Kanab. The next day you could go through zion natl park, then visit St George and snow canyon state park. Then head north.
Pm me your email and I will send you some pics when I get a chance.
