This acceptance of rioting and vandalism and inaction by the police across this nation only condones the violence. Their inactivity sends a strong message. If the police won't protect themselves then why would an ordinary citizen not fear reprisal for protecting their own personal property or even their family?
Someone please correct me as I don't understand. Then again, there are lots of things I don't understand.... Edit: This has been the general approach for years, hasn't it? How about during the Rodney King riots? I don't remember. |

Most local governments in my area are furloughing people already and looking to cut positions, including police and fire permanently and that was before any OT spending to respond to this chaos. |

KOMO news radio was full of former LEO apologists tonight saying that confronting the rioters head-on might lead to more injuries, so best not to do it. Stuff is just stuff, and your property is a priority, but just not as high a priority as making sure nobody, including the rioters, gets hurt. One said that the Seattle PD would be reviewing all the surveillance tapes in the coming weeks and arrest all the vandals and looters. He said it with such conviction that I believe that he believed what he was saying. |
