Anyone been up to Heron Lake lately?  We're camping there this weekend....some of the pictures I've seen within the past month look like the lake has a fair amount of water.  Not high by historical measures, but not on the low end either.  Forecast is rain/T-Storms for the foreseeable future, so we're expecting to get wet and maybe that'll tamp down the fire restrictions for the season.

Was there two weeks ago, and the water level was higher than it was during salmon snagging season.  Fishing for trout from the bank was excellent using salmon eggs and power bait.  Most fish were over 15 inches, believe it or not.

Since Balderass screwed up, we have to keep giving our water to Texass, so water levels will remain low, if not non-existent.  Don't freak out if the water level is fine one day, and 20 feet lower the next as they keep up the level of the Chama river.

Be warned:  Gnats, gnats, everywhere.  They are pure hell.
