Are there any decent gun shows in Harrisburg/Hershey area this winter or spring.  A bunch of guys I served with have been going to it together, but in our opinion, the Great American outdoor show sucks. We're not willing to give the do nothing NRA $15, so that we can walk around for 2 hours before heading to Troegs.

Feb 1st in Hummelstown.

Feb 1st and 2nd in Lancaster.

Mar 7th and 8th at the Farm Show Building.

April 4th and 5th in Lebanon.

I've only been to the Harrisburg and Lebanon Shows.  They both have the usual nonsense stuff like cheap ass knives, but usually worthwhile stuff as well.

York is better then the Harrisburg shows. I’d say pick a show at oaks to try for.

Several years ago the York Fun Show shared space in the building with some organization that was looking for blood donors.

Me, being a Good Guy, I donated a pint of blood and went hunting for some Deal in the show afterwards.
I can't remember if I bought anything, but I sure donated blood.

I thought MAAC (Mid Atlantic Arms Collectors) stopped running the good ol Harrisburg Farm Complex gun shows years ago?  I have not been to the "new" Harrisburg gun shows so cannot opine.  Those MAAC shows used to feature 800+ tables of good stuff, but started petering out at the end.  Eventually the competing shows at Oaks Greater Expo Center made the drive (tolls, gas, parking fees) uncompetitive for those of us on the east side of the Commonwealth.

How I miss the days when the Valley Forge Gunshow would fill up two levels of that convention center.   Unfortunately it is now a casino.

If you don't mind driving, I would recommend driving to the Oaks gunshows -- targeting one of the bigger ones that they run in the spring and fall.  The normal shows are around 1,000 tables but they will run two bigger ones that are worth attending.  Check out the schedule here; the ones listed in May and October are slated for 1,700-2,000 tables (and they do fill up both show halls).  No charge to park either (unlike the old Harrisburg MAAC shows).

How is the Gettysburg show? I'm guessing it's fairly small, but is it worth driving down from Harrisburg?

I went to the Harrisburg show in December, and I would describe it as a decent small show, but I'm new to the area, so I can't compare it to others in PA. I moved here from VA's Tidewater, and I'd call it comparable to or a little smaller than shows in Hampton Roads and VA Beach. In fact, I recognized a dealer from VA Beach that specializes in what I could call Chinese knock-off products and some random surplus gear (got a Hungarian 20-round AK Tanker mag from him in VA Beach). The Harrisburg show was about 40% crafts, jewelry, jerky, etc, which I find to be typical at most shows these days. I found a number of things that I was looking for, including a couple first aid items at a large tactical medical supply table that I'm guessing shows up at most events around the region (I think I've seen them at shows in VA). There was one table that had a lot of great discounted items - take-off Colt parts, magazines, and other things at good prices, but most stuff was typical slightly high prices for mags and other things that can be found cheaper online. One dealer had a good selection of retro and surplus Colt AR small parts in a case and a big selection of mags - from MP5 to AK74 - but they were a little pricey. One dealer had like-new Russian Bakelite mags for reasonable prices for what they're going for these days (cheaper than a lot of online places). I hadn't seen those at a show in a long time. Parking was free - the gates were wide open.

I've been to the Nation's Gun Show in VA a number of times, so everything is relative to that one for me. I'll probably go back to the Harrisburg just because I enjoy browsing around, but if you don't live in the area, I wouldn't make the trip.

Well, I went to the Gettysburg show today. It was pretty small, but probably about the same size as Harrisburg. Lots of M1 Garands and parts for a small show, a dealer with a huge selection of GI surplus field gear (not the kind of thing I'm looking for these days), some deals on ammo, and a lot less of the extraneous crafts and other items. I don't really go to shows looking for firearms, because they're usually cheaper elsewhere, so I can't really comment on that selection and prices. Several of the same dealers were there, of course, but a couple were missing that I would have liked to have seen, based on the types of products they had at Harrisburg. I probably won't make the trip down there again, but it was interesting to browse around for a couple hours. I might have to drive down to Chantilly in a few weeks.
