Howdy all My family & I are recent political refugees/escapees from VA to Giles County. Yesterday, an ARFcommer had some vehicle trouble near Columbia when going back home to KY with his family. He posted in GD that he might need some help & we pitched in & helped him out. The one thing that helped more than anything else was that arowneragain & I had each others contact information. Of course, this was made easier by the fact that I have dined with his family at their house a few times & we have spent some time together over the last few months. If there are any others here who would like to at least get in touch or at least get to know each other, please chime in. I think it would come to be a very good thing in the future; Who knows which way the political winds will blow in the next few years, or if some big storms coming thru the area we might need each others help. My temporary location for now will be down near Elkton, but in a year or so we should be finished building our house near Richland. |
I'd love to do a get-together and would be willing to host.
We've tried to put something together before and it's always tough, but I think it's worth it. We live in interesting times and I think it's important to built as many ties as possible, as locally as possible. Also, shooting stuff is fun. |
I'll bring my smoker over on my utility trailer and do some smoked hamburgers, hot dogs,
and some country style ribs. I promise I won't ask to cook any of those goats |
Fellow VA political refugee here. Moved to Warren county just over a year ago when they tried to make us all felons (ala HB961 and SB16). Not in the counties you listed, but know arowneragain pretty well and he's the best of people. If you all have a get together, I'd make the drive if I'm welcome.

Quoted: Always. Let me do some calendar shuffling. Between now and mid September we have several things to juggle but I think we have a free weekend the 25th? I need to chat with the wife. Our life is sort of a blur right now. View Quote Awesome, hope we can work it out! We've been meaning to have you all back out to the house. The kitchen is all finished and it looks great! Shop build is done too. Next task is that durn fountain. |

It was good talking to you too, Merlin

In depending on work schedule. On call every other week/weekend.
Let's go ahead and make this official.
I have a smoker. I can cook a fair amount of meat here. |
What city is the location? I can understand not wanting to give too much detail I'm just wondering the distance.

I could walk to the Berlin store but that big hill would be a bitch.
I don't check Hometown often enough...
Depending on exactly which weekend I would be in. Would be good to meet some others from the forum. |
I am still alive & still in for this. All of the family is now here in TN. It will
be a hectic rest of August for us, but we will be able to make it in September. I will keep updating my attendees post once we get closer to the date. |
I am still swamped and near the end of September will be the best time for my family. No internet connection for us until September 3rd....
Going to try Hughes.net down at the rental place off of 31S.... Hopefully will have better options once we get our house finished up near Milky Way
Hughes net was terrible when we tried it 4 yes ago, went with an air card, much better. Do know Ardmore has a grant that will bring fiber to our area, work starts this month. Might want to check on that before you contract up with anyone.
I also do not check Hometown as often as I should...
Depending on which weekend, I'd enjoy meeting some local enthusiasts. I'm in Spring Hill, so not too far away |

It is also the boundary where all cell signals go to die I can put the Hughes on pause when we get the new house finished, thank goodness it won't be a big bite that way. We are up & running on Hughes as I type this thru Hughes; wi-fi calling is working too. No TV yet & I don't know if we will try it. This is the first internet access for my wife & son in the last 3 weeks. We had a lot of fun sitting out on the front porch swatting skeeters & arm-pumping at the big rigs on 31 trying to get them to honk....Got quite a few to honk, at that |
Things are starting to level out where we can plan something as far as my gang
is concerned.... Please respond here or IM me & I will update the attendees & then we can decide on a time and place.... @Spaceboy @xxTAPxx arowneragain jebsofnga Merlin kcobean Beltfed308 bassackwards Spaceboy jonathon1289 leafinthewind jetled xxTAPxx ???? |

We’re still good to host here the 25th. Or go wherever. Can bring some Boston butts, slaw, etc either way.
In...will do my best to attend based on the final date chosen
I'm in pending final date determination. It looks like the 25th will be free for me if that's what is chosen.
Also - if there's a better location or date, we'll be flexible there too.
What time frame? O'reilly's is having a car show I want to take my truck to that day that ends at two.
I'm flexible on timeframe. And it isn't like there's a business meeting or anything so it doesn't have to be 100% at any given time.
OP, whatcha thinking? |
Saturday September 25th sounds great so far. I am sure we can start around 14:00
& will have plenty of leftovers & it can go on easily until 18:00 or later. I can bring my small smoker to do hamburgers & hot dogs on it to go along with the BBQ or whatever. Everyone may need to bring their favorite chair.... |
I lost the bubble here: Location?
Food sounds covered; what else do we need to bring? Booze OK? |
Wailp, since it's at your house I'd be inclined to say your rules.... I'm planning
to attend with my wife & son. I rarely ever drink, and I left most of my shooting irons in another location. I've got a .300 BLK I could run a couple of rounds thru, but most of my focus was going to be on making good hamburgers & hot dogs & meeting folks. I always enjoy watching others shoot, though |
