Got skunked on the turkey hunt, but saw a crap load of deer, half of which were some nice bucks. I leave the 24th to go on my rifle deer hunt in Kaibab, so hopefully that pans out. Good luck to everyone that got drawn.

I hate those damn things.... I used to spray my property in the valley to the point the EPA would have claimed it was a toxic dump.

My buddy, his brother, and their combined four boys are doing the youth elk hunt as we speak.  My neighbor goes up for the 19th hunt in 6A.

A bunch of us got drawn for whitetail right after Thanksgiving.  Then pigs in TX in Jan.

Will report back.

Nice! I will be at the JR Elk Camp this weekend helping my Nephew and maybe a buddies kid with a hunt. Love these Jr hunts!

Where you get drawn for whitetail at?

I struck out on deer and elk in Idaho back in September.  Mulie hunt in 36B starts November second.  Hoping to get out and do some calling for coyotes before then.

Which unit are you hunting for bear?  I've got a tag burning a hole in my pocket.  I should probably get out and try to fill it.

My dad and I had Archery Cow tags for 7W.  I spent a week up there and all we saw were Bulls! Every single day we had bulls well within shooting distance (some 8-10 yrds away).  I hunted Sat morning and left Sat afternoon since I had to get back to work Monday.  My dad was staying for the 2nd week of the hunt.  He texted me Sat evening (a few hours after I got home) and told me I should have stayed.  He shot his cow at 30 yrds Saturday evening at 6pm sitting at the water hole we had been sitting at.  Oh well, at least 1 of us got 1.

Well I just got back from a week and a half in the canyons. Sadly my bear didn't come out as he had been =/. Saw LOTS of elk, Mulies, and Couse Deer. The Acorns don't seem to be dropping that great yet. Also helped on the Jr Elk Hunt in 6A/5B south and got my nephew on a bunch of elk but he couldn't pull the trigger sadly. It was a wet hunt that he did not like. I love tough weather hunts. That is what good gear is for and determination shows success.

Next hunt will be either helping on a Jr Deer Hunt in 36's or 12A West. Then I won't be hunting until my Sandhill Crane hunt and then my Dec Bull Tag.

Got my first ever deer on opening day 10 minutes after starting the hunt. We were in our way to the stands of oaks when this guy showed up just a couple yards off the road. We glassed it and my buddy said if it's meat I want, that is a great animal to harvest. Was exactly what I was wanting to find. A younger animal, 3x2 with decent mass, but still respectable. Took it in to the check point at Jacob Lake and they said it was a tasty 2 year old. I did try to use the lead free ammo in my rifle, (Hells Canyon Speed, 6.5 Creedmore), but that ammo just didn't perform at all. So I brought the ELD-X and put the gut pile in a bag. 45 minutes later we came across the deer my buddy harvested. A nice 3x3.

Quartering shot @ 360y, entry behind left armpit, exit from right center bowel, almost no meat contamination, 123gr Hornady Black tripled in size upon exit.  Deer moved about six yards after impact and then fell.  12" 6.5 Grendel vs heart:

My buddy helped and taught me and we processed this year, I'll never use a professional again:

After butchering we fried up a few steaks and... wow... speechless.  From desert to stomach, 100% my efforts, best feeling in the world.

Was hunting jackrabbits in 36C yesterday and saw a really nice 3-point Couse standing in the water of one of the ponds I checked.  He was looking back at me from 80 yards but didn't spook, which is really unusual.

After watching him for a bit I decided to see what was wrong so I started to walk over to him.  He ran out of the water and that's when I saw about 8 inches of his intestines hanging out.

If you don't feel good about the shot, don't take it.

Dropped my 3 sandhill cranes after Thanksgiving and dropped my 5x5 bull elk in 22N after chasing elk for 4 days. Saw TONS of bulls and had 5 north of 300", but wife called and baby dropped in her pelvis so smacked a 5x5 raghorn so I could get home.

I have had a lot of success this fall, but here are some of what I did. I helped out on 3 Jr hunts as well and had two kids within range of critters. The third kid I glassed up a 80-85" coues buck but he had zero interest in hiking a mile further in for it. Oh well, he had a blast and they were good folks! Had a lack of shed hunting this year too. I found an awesome 100" forky dead head, nice muley shed, and to top it off which is pic below, a meaty coues buck shed on a jr hunt. I was pretty pumped if you could tell.

Sadly my archery hunts didn't play out into me getting a buck.... 20 stalks with zero luck ha. I want a coues buck with my bow SOOOOOO BAD! Maybe if I can get away here this week I might try it again. Hope everyone else had a great fall hunt! Couple my good buddies and their kids dropped deer this year! Super pumped for them!

Any Dec deer killers dropping bucks???
