I work for the city and it surely sucks. The unions are sitting on their hands, at least here in the water dept. There are lawsuits working already and they are back pedalling right now. There is a city council meeting slated for the 7th of Dec so I encourage everyone who believes mandates are BS to PLEASE call in and voice your opinion. I believe it starts at 230 and it is the only thing on the schedule. The mayor and council voted behind closed doors to go ahead with this but luckily Sal DiCiccio has taken up the fight as well and called them out on their bs. If this happens, you are set to lose 20 people minimum from police dispatch where they are already 100 employees short. There are already wait times when you call 911. You can lose close to 800 officers from departments that are already down 300. Detectives are being used to do patrols and they are hiring off the street to take reports and witness statements. I do not have a number for the fire dept but they are way understaffed. I don't have a figure for Water Services but we are already short handed by a couple 100 employees and I know about another couple hundred will be forced out.
Needless to say, if the city loses the numbers of employees it's set to lose due to this bs, the streets will look like San Francisco in no time and water and sewer and public works services will become next to nothing.
This is more than just being about vaxxed or unvaxxed, this is about medical freedom, about personal choice. It's about life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. If they are allowed to do this, what makes you think they won't come for everything.
