Pretty good shaker
Lasted about 15-20 seconds in Middleton. Side to side reminded me of California, guessing a 4.5 ish give or take |
|
Stronger than I’ve felt in many years.
Moscow here. How can it be felt in Boise and Moscow at the same time?! I estimated a 5.0 here... |
|
That was a decent shaker, lasted a long time. Hope everyone is safe with no damage. We're in Blanchard.

Caldwell. Bounced the 3' isolation slabs enough to feel it through my boots.

Haven't felt an earthquake in almost 7 years, must of been the kids next door first they ran out of the house.

Was wondering which one of you set off the tannerite.
On the upside, finally found something that will shut up my parrot. |

It certainly felt like a good one from my California days. 6.3 damn that's pretty big

Shook the whole Micron building complex pretty good. People in Bozeman,MT reported feeling it.

Was a nice shake. Hypocenter just north of Banner summit. Idaho telling sun valley it isn’t happy.

I grew up in the Bay Area and that was most certainly a very familiar feeling.
(Don't hold it against me please. I never vote dimocRat) I live off Eagle Rd south of Chinden Ave, and had the door from my kitchen to the backyard open at the time. The Lab (State Dog of Idaho) was freaking out about ten seconds before it hit. Then I realized why when I heard that familiar roar echoing through the air while the house shook like one would expect it to. That roar. Just like old times. |

That brought on a flashback of driving north on 101 to the City, and watching the Candlestick Causeway have waves just like the ocean. Not nearly that bad, but only the 3rd quake we can remember over 17+ years here. I can't remember one here over the mid-5's.
Our traditional campground is Grand Jean. Custer is a left turn off the highway from Stanley to Salmon, just before you get to Salmon. Custer is a restored mining camp with buildings and old equipment pretty much intact, including a dredge. A nice day or weekend trip, in the Spring. |

Looks like it was around Cape Horn... Must have been pretty lively in Lowman and Stanley. Must have felt down right apocalyptic.

There are a few of us around here :) |

I'm glad it was rolling and not an a plate dropper like the 1994 Northridge Quake. That one sucked...
|

Funny I felt the 5.7 that hit Utah a week or so ago but didn't feel that one.
|
|
Definitely reminded me of the one in SF in ‘89. Pretty wild for sure!

Cape Horn is not just west of Challis.
I lived in Challis for 6 years and worked in the area from there over to Banner Summit so I know the area. Earthquake map. |

View Quote You seriously want to argue over where the quake was? I've lived in Idaho for 20 years. I've been up and down that area countless times. None of that shit matters. Look at the pics below. It was west of Challis. |

Quoted: Cool story bro. It was west of Challis. Even if southwest, or northwest, still west. https://media.ktvb.com/assets/KTVB/images/4bd9d755-810c-4c8d-a4b0-52fe2fa743df/4bd9d755-810c-4c8d-a4b0-52fe2fa743df_1920x1080.jpg View Quote Not a story. If you think 45 air miles is "just" west then ID is "just" west of Nebraska. Lived/worked in Idaho for 18 yrs in four locations from the Panhandle, Clearwater, Salmom-Challis & Payette regions so I know ID pretty well north of 94 & west of 15. |

That totally rocked us. We are about 70 or so miles mostly west of the main event. Felt two aftershocks yesterday and one this AM around 7:35. The aftershocks are closer than the main event. I have a friend who's a retired geologist and he said he was hopeful that this event wouldn't increase pressure at Cascade Lake...which apparently has a well-known fault system.

I don't understand why they didn't describe it as closest to Stanley, since it's really Northwest, but who knows why.... 6 of one, half dozen of another.

View Quote Looking at the map, it literally happened about 4 miles north of the big hairpin turn that one makes just past Bull Trout lake on highway 21. Would have been interesting for those folks who were driving right there at the time. |
