Not a surprise for many of us on this forum that this bill was passed under the Democrat controlled House.

I don't know what district this scumbag represents, but if you happen to be one of his constituents, remember how he voted.

Not that I thought it would do any good, I’m not even in his district, but I called to his local New Jersey and the Washington office numbers.  I tried to get through a staffer and express my distain for the way he voted with the Democrats for gun control against the constitution that he swore to uphold and protect. But of course you can’t get through because “high call volume”, which is always the case whenever something like this comes to a vote. They’ll do anything to avoid having to speak to a constituent. I left two strongly worded messages condemning his actions calling him a traitor to the constitution because that’s what I believe. It’s disgraceful how he voted and I also mentioned that if he thinks that voting with the democrats he’s going to help him in the next election he sadly mistaken. They are going after everyone who has an R after their name so he’s not endearing himself with the left if that’s his plan. All he did was isolate himself from any conservatives in his district. Not that he gives a shit.

Hi Lugerman,

Your response is always very simple minded and it shows that you wear blinders much too often, it seems your logic is very minimal at best.  Over the years of posting on this forum you have   shown your defeatist attitude which spouses surrender to the majority.  I disagree with your opinion that NJ will for ever be a Democrat stronghold where us Conservatives will never have a chance to change the status quo. It has taken a long time for NJ to become what it is today, however the pendulum keeps swinging and with time it will swing back to our side.

I dare say that eventually we the conservative force in NJ will become the majority. Yes, it may take years but it will happen.

No! Don't vote for a Democrat, hold your Republican representative feet to the fire. Challenge him on his conduct and decision to vote with the socialist totalitarian wing of the Socialist anti-gun party. Of course you know why the left has to remove our 2nd Amendment in order for them to achieve total control.  History shows us how this takes place and the results are clear. Oppression and totalitarian government.

If you reside in this guy's district, become engaged and demand he represent your views because that is why he was elected to represent you.

Love and peace brother, we are on the same side but have differing opinions on how we get to the final resolution.

My God man open your eyes and look at what this State has become!!

Talk about blinders and minimal logic!! Look in the mirror Pal. It's not defeatist, it's reality!!

Look at how the last Presidential election went down. NJ will never go Conservative. Not in a million years!!

I'll bet your still holding your breath for a CCW too right???

Voting hasn't made any positive impacts on our 2A Right's in the last 50 years and never will again.

I deal in reality you CLEARLY DON'T!!

It's OK LD no offense taken from restava.

He's just as frustrated with our 2A Rights as I am only I know how the system works here in NJ. I've been closely following it since the late 1960's.

He's still under the impression that hos vote counts for something here in NJ while I know it really doesn't.

I also don't believe in Santa Clause or the Easter Bunny either!

This NJ House rep needs to get his walking papers from the voters in his district.
Here is his latest vote siding with the Democrats.

"In the middle of an unprecedented border crisis, the Democrat-controlled U.S. House of Representatives just voted for mass amnesty.

On Thursday, the House voted to pass the Dream and Promise Act, which grants total amnesty to illegal immigrants who entered the country while under the age of 18.

The bill passed by a margin of 228-197, with a total of 9 Republicans voting with Democrats to pass the bill.

Below are the 9 House Republicans who really are nothing but RINOs"

Don Bacon (NE)
David Valadao (CA)
Fred Upton (MI)
Maria Elvira Salazar (FL)
Dan Newhouse (WA)
Brian Fitzpatrick (PA)
Chris Smith (NJ)
Carlos Gimenez (FL)
Mario Diaz-Balart (FL)

Why is it that no one from his district has commented on his actions? If you did not know he would do this, then there is no shame, however if folks in his district reelect him after knowing his betrayal, I am respectfully asking LUGERMAN for his commentary, which I hope is a scathing one.

Just to let you know on a little known fact amongst members here, Lugerman has fought for the 2nd Amendment and other Rights since at least the early 70s , he did his patriotic duty fighting the infringments, unfortuantely, there
were not enough Lugermans in this state to make an impact, I don't need to go into detail what he showed me back in the day when we as a group would gather at Range 14 a few times a year, I will allow him to
add to this at his leasure.

I don't believe him to be a defeatist, but rather someone who has come to terms with the realities of this socialist state.

Godspeed  TL

On a  side note, I  have had the opportunity to be involved in a conversation with a former Councilman in one small town who eloquently explained to me how the Democrats stay in power here,
3 words : Norcross, Sweeney, and Turncoat Republicans. its not how the R votes, but by accepting very lucrative lifetime government positions in exchange for walking away from campaigning for office and /or campaigning for others.

I said enough.

Chris Smith at one time was pro 2A if I remember correctly. He has been in office since 1981. We have exchanged many letters over those years on 2A Rights and he always seemed to have our backs here in my 4th District.

That was then and this is now. I no longer can support him due to him stances on immigration and 2A rights any longer.

I agree he is now a RHINO. Labor unions and gun control groups primarily endorse Democrats.

They’ve made an exception in New Jersey.

Rep. Chris Smith, R-4th Dist., was the only state Republican endorsed by the New Jersey State AFL-CIO, and one of only two House GOP lawmakers in the nation backed by Giffords, the gun control group named for the former Arizona congresswoman who was shot and seriously injured.

What changed his mind? I don't know for sure but he's a long time Politician who blows where the wind takes him to keep himself in office.

Let's not forget NJ has appx. 3 million voters and 2 million vote Democratic. Ocean County and Monmouth County were once the largest Republican stronghold in NJ. That has been steadily changing in the last several years due to what I believe with the influx of North Jersey people moving into South Jersey. North Jersey generally votes Democratic.

Many Republican's in Monmouth County were unseated by Democrats in the last local elections. Way more then I would have ever imagined.

Take for instance Andy Kim winning over David Richter. Ten years ago Kim wouldn't have had a snowballs chance in hell of winning.

Let's look at this chart for the Presidential voting record. We all know local elections follow closely to Presidential elections. Start at 1992 and continue downward.

Year Democratic Republican
1948 45.93% 895,455 50.33% 981,124
1952 42.0% 1,015,902 56.8% 1,374,613
1956 34.2% 850,337 64.7% 1,606,942
1960 50.0% 1,385,415 49.2% 1,363,324
1964 65.6% 1,867,671 33.9% 963,843
1968 44.0% 1,264,206 46.1% 1,325,467
1972 36.8% 1,102,211 61.6% 1,845,502
1976 47.9% 1,444,653 50.1% 1,509,688
1980 38.6% 1,147,364 52.0% 1,546,557
1984 39.2% 1,261,323 60.1% 1,933,630
1988 42.6% 1,320,352 56.2% 1,743,192
1992 43.0% 1,436,206 40.6% 1,356,865
1996 53.7% 1,652,329 35.9% 1,103,078

2004 52.9% 1,911,430 46.2% 1,670,003
2008 57.1% 2,215,422 41.6% 1,613,207
2012 58.3% 2,126,610 40.5% 1,478,749

1978: We lose our last elected Republican senator

With the Reagan revolution about to begin, Republican voters decided longtime Sen. Clifford Case was too moderate for their liking.

Instead, they went for conservative Jeff Bell, who once wrote speeches for Reagan, ousting Case in the Republican primary.

That didn't work out at all.

In the fall, voters turned out in droves for rookie Democrat Bill Bradley, whose Jersey ties were forged during his time at Princeton University and whose celebrity status was cemented as a forward on two New York Knicks championship teams.

Republican margin of defeat: 238,760 votes.

I'm afraid it's only going to get worse now that many thousands of NJ Voters are abandoning the State as they get close to retirement.  Many are already leaving even before retirement due o Murphy's insane business taxes. The "replacement" New Jerseyians are of lower education and lower wage earners and guess who they vote for?

I don't see anyway out of this slide Restava. I like you don't like it but I'm at the point of it's all shoving shit against the tide. We are being buried by our own indifference and apathy.

Sorry you feel the need to attack me because I understand the harsh reality of what our State has become. I don't agree with you that we can change anything especially by voting. 2 million Democrats voting against 1 million Republicans won't solve a thing.

Jack Ciattarelli, a former Republican assemblyman who failed to gain traction in the 2017 election, on Tuesday announced his second bid for governor, portraying himself as policy handyman to clean up after Democratic Gov. Phil Murphy.

Does anyone see this Guy having any chance defeating Murphy? Sad to say I don't. Not with 2 million Dems voting lockstep again 1 million Republicans.

Vote with you feet like 50% of the posters in the NJ Hometown Forum have already done. Save yourself because the State and it's elected officials have failed you for many years and will only continue to do so.

I guess Restava is correct in calling me a defeatist. After voting since 1973 here in NJ I certainly feel like one.

Duly noted Bob. NJ Politicians are amongst the most corrupt in the Nation and backed by the NJ Supreme Court. Let us not forget about Bob Torricelli and Frank Lautenberg.

How is Bob Melendez still in office? Cory Booker is a complete disgrace to every voter in the State. Neither would have ever been elected to Dog catcher had it not been in the best interest of the morally bankrupt and corrupt Democrat Party in NJ to get them where they are today.

NJ Politicians sicken me.

I know many Democrats who have voted both sides of the isle over the years, they're not flaming socialists like those up north, they thought Murphy was a good choice until they saw his true colors later on.
They're blind till its too late

Lugerman, my Mother once met Diamond Bill Bradley. Now, my Mother was a G.R.I.T.S. Lady (girls raised in the South) and being polite with her Southern charm was always a hallmark. However on the occasion that she met Senator Bradly she said, I do not vote for people like you.

Second, I have been receiving a lot of survey calls about Jack Ciattarelli.
