Thoughts on the presentation?

What was the topic?

Mostly about indicators that a person may become violent.  Pretty common stuff.  I thought the program would be more about active shooter type information.

It was interesting though that program is DHS sponsored and being rolled out in part through the Catholic diocese in the Chicago area.  Lake Zurich police were part of the organizing team as well.

I would guess there are other non church organizations participating as well.  The FBI guy who presented did a good job.  I think that particular church is a bit behind in terms of church security but is trying to get a safety program launched now.

I think that our church safety team is way ahead in terms of planning and has had more training.  We have a good group of guys who have been planning for about a year now.

I could be wrong - just basing my opinion on the types of questions asked by their church team -- like ushers.

So it was mostly "this is the difference between cover and concealment, here's how to hide", etc?

No, not really even that.  It was to do with indicators to look for if someone may become violent:  stopping meds, buying guns, withdrawal from friends etc.

I was pretty disappointed as I was there with the church safety team and I thought we might get some good learnings.  Oh well.
