what do you think the odds of a carrier spreading NCOV2019 to some Shot show attendees?

I was there for 3 days and now have a sore throat and bad cough. So does three other people that were there with me.  I tried to be careful used hand sanitizer every time I shook hands with someone. But look at everyone touching and shouldering guns that every one else has touched. Its going to spread shit around. I knew it was coming I just hope it doesn't get worse and I shake it quickly.

It's flu season, so sure people got sick.  Spreading rumors that it's the 2019 nCov will destroy our local economy.  Thanks for playing.

To play devil's advocate, Wuhan is a major industrial base, and optics are one of the primary products.  Check out any cheap Chinese optics at SHOT? Seemed like every other booth to me. Oh well, I'm sure the suspected case at Southern Hills will be nothing (note I said suspected, not confirmed).

The Southern Nevada Health District announced today it has received a report of a potential case of Coronavirus in a Clark County resident. The patient is currently in isolation at a Las Vegas hospital. The patient will be monitored and under medical supervision while testing is conducted by the CDC (Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.) Currently, there are no confirmed cases of the 2019 Coronavirus in Clark County.

Both of my friends came back from SHOT with severe case of flu...Hopefully not the Wuhan kind.

Somebody made a reference to this show and IIRC besides a huge attendance, the comment I remember is a substantial percentage are expected to come from China under normal circumstances. If there is a concern, it will be the upcoming convention calendar, not SHOT.

Even worse is the ASD show on March 22.  I think half of China attends that one. I may have to pass on that one this year. Just came back from the Doctors office today with the shit I picked up at SHOT.

Latest Coronavirus Developments

In an effort to provide the latest information with regards to the Coronavirus situation in the area - this is an update with today's developments. A lot happened and this a fluid situation.

1. The Southern Nevada Health District has received reports of 3 new presumptive positive COVID19 cases in Clark County. Investigations are in the preliminary phase, additional information as it becomes available. There are 8 cases in Clark County – 7 presumptive positives and 1 that has been confirmed by the CDC. There are now a total of 11 statewide.

2. Tonight, Governor Steve Sisolak declared a state of emergency in Nevada due to the Coronavirus outbreak. The declaration will frees up additional resources to fight COVID-19 around the state.  The governor and state leaders are continuing to work on getting more Coronavirus testing kits into Nevada along with working on private and public sector partners to slow the spread of the virus.

3. Due to continuing concerns about the spread of Coronavirus, Clark County is canceling large community events scheduled to be held at its Parks and Recreation Department facilities until further notice. The cancellations affect events expected to have an attendance of 250 or more including Tacos and Tamales at Desert Breeze Park on Saturday, March 28, and Jazz in the Park at the Clark County Government Center Amphitheater, on Saturdays May 9, 23, 16, 30 and June 6. Groups with reservation inquiries are directed to contact the Clark County Parks and Recreation Department at (702) 455-8200. North Las Vegas and Henderson are also canceling their large city-run events.

4. The Clark County School District is suspending all athletic events, assemblies and extra-curricular events until further notice over Coronavirus fears. In addition, the district is removing salad bars at school cafeterias.  Classes will continue, no planned school closures at the moment.  Safekey and other after school all-stars programs will continue to operate.

5. Out of an abundance of caution, UNLV will transition to remote instruction beginning Monday, March 23, immediately following spring break.

A good friend of mine has it. He's been miserable for 4 days. Has pneumonia. He's an otherwise healthy guy in his 40s. He made a point of telling me 'this is NOT just the flu or a cold'.

Doctors told him he for sure had it and the rest of his family (wife and 2 kids) are showing all the same symptoms. They wouldn't test him as they said they are saving tests for those in the higher risk groups that are in danger of dying. So there are four cases in my area that aren't showing up in the stats.

Something to keep in mind when you think the stats you read 'don't seem too bad'.

But will he recover without inpatient care?
Seems like it's a shitty ride, but ultimately manageable at home for most.

I have yet to speak with a person who has FIRST HAND knowledge of an American who has been infected with the virus and gone through the stages.
I want to know what the trip was like for a 40 or younger US citizen with access to our OTC medications and medical knowledge. I have thousands of social media contacts and thus far not a single person has had direct contact with a carrier.
