After 22 years at being at the mercy of Uncle Sam I will finally be free 1 February 2022. Of course that just means I get to start a fresh new chapter in my life with the benefit of a lifetime of experience...I've narrowed it down to Utah, Idaho, or Wyoming thus far.

I grew up in Tooele County, but haven't been home in 5 years. The SLC job market looks promising in both my current career field and the ones I'm looking at moving into. I've got family to land with to help ease the transition, but the housing market is nearly as bad as California...on the plus side, if I sell soon enough, I'll clear $250K...

All in all, I'd like to be back home, but at this point I don't know what I don't know and I'm hoping some of you guys can chime in to help me make this decision.

And don't worry, I never adopted the Commie voting habits of my duty stations. Even my rainbow flag waiving daughter is a small .gov, freedom loving patriot...

Moving to Utah was the best thing my wife and I did after getting out. Idaho and Wyoming are also great states and we would probably have been happy there as well, but Utah was the right choice for us at the time. Other than career and family what else is drawing you to the area? Maybe that would help to give better advice.
