My son is getting married and lives in CA. I have a series 70 colt 1911 that he has always admired and I’m thinking of gifting it to him as a wedding present.

He is a LEO but I doubt that matters. Any limits? Out here in the free states there’s no paper or registration so kind of curious how easy this could be.

Hopefully just a congrats, here you go, enjoy.

Interstate transfers have to go through an FFL, obviously.  Otherwise there should be no problems.  If it's not on the roster, there's a double exemption since he's a LEO and also qualifies for the transfer to be considered intrafamilial.

Where does he live? I'm a CA FFL. If it's a wedding gift I'll do it free of charge.
