I believe with loaded long guns you are more likely to run afoul of Conservation laws & regs (where and when they apply) than criminal firearm statutes, but please wait for someone who can quote chapter and verse on this (IOW, that ain't me
 ).

There is nothing in the standard criminal code. But there are some things in the wildlife portion that game wardens enforce. I wouldn't be riding around in rural areas with a .270 and a spot light. |

I ride around town all the time with one, two Sheriff's Deputies said no problem with the criminal code.
I also spend a lot of time in the Nat Forest 'wondering around' . I keep the big game license handy, and only lock and load if I exit the truck, and wonder around on foot, i.e. then I'm sorta 'coyote/hog' hunting. Kinda sucks after spending a lifetime in Ga. where you can hike with a loaded rifle without issue. |

The only conservation regulation that exists to address this only applies to state owned wildlife management areas.
