My girlfriend has a friend that's in to dog trials and occasional breeding. I asked her if they breed Brittany Spaniels.

Her answer was "Yes, but if you ask, she'll correct you and tell you they're 'American Brittany'."

lol...eyeroll...

(she later said they're not currently breeding)
