I have a sudden urge to add a Vaquero to the collection.  Having never bothered looking for single action cowboy style guns, I have zero idea who keeps a good stock of these guns locally with decent prices.  Any specialty stores around?

Thanks guys.

Hey dude...what's up?

Go here.  Legendary Guns  Small shop, lots of cowboy stuff.

Gun show coming up...go find a used one with some wear for less that maybe comes with a cheesy leather holster and cartridge belt.

Long time no talk

That Legendary Guns place looks like what I want.  I'll have to go check them out.  I had thought about going to SAR to look around but not sure I want to deal with the crowds.  No holster and bandolier required

If you can't find one , Buds on line always has them . I could never warm up to them because they have that awful rear notch they call a sight.

Yeah been looking at the online sources.  Seems Pistol Parlour in Mesa has a bunch, and also stocks the Uberti / Taylors / Cimmaron stuff as well so I can compare.  The sights are not great, but this is just for fun anyway.  I have enough modern handguns with good sights to last multiple lifetimes

When it comes to single actions Ruger is the best of the bunch if you don't want to spend the money and get a Freedom Arms model 83 . Check out the 44 mag Ruger Super black hawk in Stainless Steel .

Not sure what part of AZ you are in, OP, but I have a couple hand fulls of OM Vaquero models and have been thinking of letting a few go.  Feel free to email me if interested.  I really like the birdshead grip frames with short 3.75" barrel in 45LC and that is the bulk of what I have in case colored and high polished stainless, but I also have a 45LC New Model Vaquero Montado and a Talo NM Vaquero in 45ACP/Blued as well as a neat OM 44 Mag Bisley in high polish stainless with custom made burl grips with a 4 5/8" barrel.  All are minty goodness....

Interesting.  I think what I want is probably a 5.5" blued new model in .357 although I have been considering 45LC, even if it's a bit more expensive to shoot  Difficult decisions as there's a bunch of variants to consider.

Oh good, I'm not the only one to suddenly get this urge  I don't know why, I've always preferred modern firearms, but I have so many of those that something has suddenly possessed me to get something more classic just for fun.

I have a bunch of guns also but emotionally I'm torn to hold one of my sixguns, sort of like a Priest holds his prayer book.  Attachment Attached File

Oh it starts with a Ruger... then it's down the 'rabbit hole' of Single Actions.
My journey has come to this after 35 years:

Cimarron 1861 Navy .36 – Antique Finish

Before the above:

Uberti Cattleman 'Cody' .45 LC

But the top dog was my 'rescue' Colt SAA

Bought for $300 at a garage sale in Redmond, WA it started life as a
5.5" .38 Special - shipped Sept.1956 (first month of production of Gen. 2 SAA)
It took a BIG trip through the Colt Custom Shop for:
•4.75" .45 barrel
•.45 LC cylinder + .45 ACP cylinder
•1-piece IVORY stock
•re-blue + re-case color

Nah, not a gamer at all. I make a rare exception for Gran Turismo, but that's pretty much it.

One of those inexplicable bugs, ya know? I'm not even sure I'd actually shoot it a whole lot to be honest, but that's beside the point.

Not quite fiendn' for it yet, more just browsing at the moment.

I'd be after something with a 7.5" barrel in 45 Colt.  Ideally an Uberti Cattleman II in steel. Or an equivalent Cimarron or Vaquero model. Internet shopping for these doesn't turn up a ton of local options, and don't really have the free time to make the rounds to all the local shops.

Well after getting a chance to handle a couple Vaqueros today along with a few Cimarron Model P's, I wound up ordering a Cimarron Model P 5.5" model like this:

Should be here on Monday or Tuesday.

I ended up ordering it from Bear Mountain in Mesa.  Cheaper than anybody else I could find, and supposed to only take a few days to arrive.  Hoping to hear from them today or tomorrow.

You can see the online catalog here

Nice.  Mine took a couple days, but they should send you a tracking number via email.  Bear Mountain was good about calling me within 45 min of it arriving at the store to come get it.  I will definitely be ordering more through them.
