Oh joy. The county IT system was hacked by the Russian group Vice Society and it was completely offline today. So, of course the kids learned nothing because all of their coursework is in Schoology.

Word is at least a week to recover. No idea yet how much data has been compromised.
ETA: No school Mon Feb 6. Teachers/admins report two hours late. Systems that are down as a result of the attack include internal comms/PA, emergency comms, and HVAC. |

Wonder if the other counties are learning anything from Berkeley's troubles with this and protecting their systems better?

One month later and the kids still have no Internet and teachers still aren't using Schoology. I don't mind that the kids don't have Internet because they're bringing home *GASP* PAPER which actually makes it easier for me to figure out just what they've been doing in math, where they need help.
