Kid and spouse are moving there to work in the oil patch.  They love the outdoors and camping.  What are their firearm options when up in the hills?

What do they have?

They can bring their AR's as long as they meet certain criteria. Any bolt gun is legal, 99% of shotguns are legal and handguns are good to go as long as they don't have a threaded barrel. Of course they'll need 10 round mags for all the stuff that takes them.

They have a little of everything.  They will likely only take shotguns and handguns.  Handgun is a 357 revolver and a 1911, and they are aware of the mag limit.

Their main confusion is there is a "campground" reference to loaded possession, but how do they pack it in?  For example how do they carry while hiking to and from the camp?  They typically hike in several miles from trailhead to campground.

A lot of BLM land is open to shooting.  Including registered aw's.
