Full details here in GD. Salem Greenway by Market Place Mall. 3pm
BE THERE! If anyone wants to meet up during this time, or if you need help with something, post it up and we will do whatever we can to help out. Stay safe! ETA2: As of 1APR20, I'm looking at start a general discussion thread in here for all the NC BB Troops. You guys want it to be in this thread, or start a new one? ETA3: I have been asked for pics from our hikes to be published on the main APC website and social media accounts. Is there anyone who does NOT want their pic out there? ETA4: NEW HIKE THREAD IS LIVE IN GD! ETA5: Anybody up for doing the Mogadishu Mile 5K on 10/3 at 6:30pm with me? I'm going to put a thread up in GD on it as well. ETA6: LATE NOTICE HIKE - Saturday, Nov 14th at Salem Lake. When we get there we'll decide of we're doing the whole lake (approx 7.5 miles) or just a 6 miler. Meet at 2:45pm at the marina at 815 Salem Lake Road Winston-Salem, NC 27107 ETA7: We will be doing a full day event date TBD. Tentative schedule is 6 mile ruck (3 mile option for any new members) starting at 10:00am. After the ruck we will have lunch (bring your own - depending on location we may not have any cooking areas) and then continue into two blocks of training - intro to land nav, and intro into mountaineering. How in depth we go will depend on getting the proper members there to run the classes. I will post up a seperate thread and try and tag everyone in it. This is a perfect time to reach out to friends outside our normal circle and bring them into the fold! ETA8: 2/6 We'll be meeting at the Kings Mountain Point Day Use Area in the Uwharrie National Forest. It has a shelter if we need it, bathrooms, some trail heads if we want to hike trails instead of the gravel road, and is easy to find. I need to get a head count so we can get some supplies together for the land nav intro, so please post up if you're coming. ETA9: 3/20 we will be doing a rappelling class at Rocky Face Park. This will be a full day event. |

Depending on how my feet feel, we can always do another one the follow weekend.

Pleasure to meet you all!
Looking forward to doing it again in the future. I'm down for Sunday afternoon hikes so long as we can plan it in advance. |

Gentlemen, I'm currently working on the Blue Ridge BB group in VA to your north along the 220 corridor. In the future I hope we can have some combined events for familiarization with neighboring AO's.

I’m in. Trying to get a head count on the thread linked in op.
|
|
As I mentioned in the main thread in GD, I may not be able to make it. We have family in town and I'm not sure when they're leaving.
BUT - the hike WILL go on! |
|
BUMP with new date.
Come on out folks! We're having a great time meeting new people and suffering a bit before getting some grub! |
|
Check out what @Ben has been up to. https://americanpioneercorps.org/

BUMP
Who is coming out to play on Sunday? It should be a perfect day for it - upper 50's to low 60's and sunny. |
|
I should be there. Wootin! and all that.
@Glock-23 Come on man if ya can! |
|
I’m not toting a lot due to back n hip issues.
Some of us are wearing plate carriers and ruck sacks. Sand in some baggies makes it easy to adjust it. And dump it if you have too lol. You can carry weight or not. They tolerate me haha! It’s good exercise and fellowship! |
|
Y'all missed a good time!
We're going again next weekend, and the Guilford County Battleground to celebrate the 239th anniversary of the battle. This is going to be a relaxed-ish hike, so don't worry if you don't have any gear or can't hike more than a mile before having to stop. COme on out and meet some great folks! |
|
SUNDAY SUNDAY SUNDAY
Come on out to Guilford Court House on Sunday at 3pm for a hike around the battlefield! This is going to be a perfect time to bring your families as we aren't going for the 6 mile in 2 hours or less time, we're just going to be walking the battlefield and discussing American history. |
|
Most likely can make this one.
I see you want to do a PT test for anyone stupid enough to try. I probably qualify for that as well. |

View Quote Right now I’m just trying to gauge interest in workin on the ratings Ben has laid out for the APC. I also need to reach out to the other NC groups and see if they want to start planning an overnight in the Uwaharrie in September |

FYI - I am keeping an eye on the weather. If it's a full on rainy day, the hike will be CANCELED.
Right now they are calling for an 80% chance of rain and a high of 47. If we have to pull the plug, we'll look at rescheduling this hike. |
|
I'll let everyone know by 10am tomorrow if we're still going.
Currently calling for rain in the morning with a cloudy afternoon. |
|
I am thinking pulling back from any unnecessary activity for now. (sorry I just turned this into a covid thread). Will resume my BB interest when the storm clears.
|
|
I just checked the weather report. Weather.com has it at 52* with a 15% chance of rain at 3pm in Greensboro.
I'll be there. Hopefully some of you folks will make it, too, but if not, we'll see you on the next one! |
|
It's kind of a long round trip for crummy weather and low turn out.
I feel bad dropping out, but maybe next time. |
