Opened the door without looking first.

Bear is in process of tipping over garbage can.

I step outside and stretch my arms up to look taller and yell at him/her/it. ??

Bear stops what he is doing and takes off.

Dunno if we have 300 lb. bears or not but the f'er was big.

Yes, I am too stupit to be scared.

Pistol time?

Maybe, who knows around here.

Guy that lives maybe a mile away has cameras.

Bout a year ago he got a pic of two panthers on the side walk that is on the side of his house.

A swamp separates his neighborhood from mine.

I solved my night raider with a fith op's .12 perimeter alarm.   Rigged the alarm and trip so that when the critter tipped the can it discharged...........ammo was home brew, 75 grains of black with two hard card wads roll crimped...........no projectiles.

The alarm worked and haven't had an incident since he tried a raid in Dec.   Neighbors have but he seems to be avoiding my place....................Had neighbor shoot one about two years ago.....failed to kill it and it was in someone's flower garden moaning..........another helpful type came up and .45'd.......that put it down, then the fools decided to bury the thing on a local ministers property...............F&G tore their ass up!

Going on being here 4 years we have never had a bear get in to our trash. Any time we put a bag out with kitchen scraps we pour some bleach on it.

See them alot.
Trash doesn't get put out till the mourning of pick up.
We have big ones here ( Ocala nstl. Forest).
We just yell and the dogs normally keep them away

Yes and in very good shape. This one has been eating good. The way it came on the porch and knew exactly how to open the fridge tells me it has been doing this somewhere for a while.

We have one that walks along our sea wall (panhandle between FWB and Navarre) around EENT most days.  About once a month he will pull our bird feeder down and eat the seeds.  We keep the garbage can in the garage.

Thank you sir.  Been REAL busy.  My new office is a '44 Safe Boat and when I'm not 50 to 100 miles offshore, I'm doing maintenance of the boat.

'44 ft. can get pretty small out there.

Have been in 26' seas but on a 65 ft, boat.

Black bears are typically more scared of you, unless cubs are involved or someone lets their ankle nipper small dog loose.

I actually feel bad for the bears, here, people are bitching about them, but people keep building into their habitat and don't control their dogs.

My subdivision is 2/3 houses and 1/3 thick woods.  This morning while walking my dog, he froze, ears up staring at the wood line by the road.  A huge black bear walked out of the woods about 20 feet from us, took one look, ambled across the road and into the woods on the other side.

I agree.
That and transplants who move to towns like mine and ignore simple commonsense when it comes to wild animals.

While walking my dog this morning, my neighbor 2 houses down stopped me to show me pictures he took last evening just before sunset of 4 black bears in his front yard.  There were two large bears and two cubs.  They were stretched out laying on his front yard.

Wife went to the farmers market yesterday. She got strawberrys, green beans and asparagus. Put it all in outside fridge except for 6 trays of strawberrys in the freeze dryer. Had not seen this bear in a while, thought it had moved on. No such luck.

Just before the pit lit off inside and made it leave.

Told the wife I will probably have to put electric wire around porch just like we had to do around chicken pens.

A friend just sent me this. I guess the bear wanted his food to go.

Florida is over run with the dang things.  Some years back, we finally got a hunting season for them.  I believe 326 were killed in three days.  The lefty anti hunters on the FWC freaked out and cancelled the hunt.  We have not gotten another one.

We have 5 that hit us in Midway every trash night. Two cubs their mother got hit and killed on rt98 and two other younger bears. Then we have a teen that we call bad boy who is taller than me on his back legs and I am 6'4+

Bad Boy

The cubs.
