I wonder about what the real prices of ammo is for dealers, I see places like the Cabelas in Grand Rapids/Grandville, selling 9mm and 5.56/.223 for decent prices considering the current political situations. Its seems to come more frequently nowadays too, I usually buy a 2 or 3 boxes at a time every couple of weeks and my supply of ammo is sitting pretty good now. $40 a box for reloads or steel case ammo is crazy, even online places like SGAmmo is selling ammo for pretty high prices, for some of the exact same ammo I can buy locally for less than half. I understand pricing and availability is different for local dealers versus big chains, but where do you draw the line at price gouging?

I used to live in that area. Bought some guns from him and shot at the indoor range (Kodiak ?) next door. Been a long time for me, too. I don’t know how Brown Bear has survived there this long. |

There used to be an indoor range across the street by the railroad tracks if I remember correctly.
We used to go to the outdoor range before the clubhouse burned down. |

Before Kodiak Gun Shop, there was a hand trap range across from Maple Grove, then it turned to LaBelle Electric.
I found out that Maple Grove was closed when I met some buddies from work to go shoot. They were sitting outside on the shoulder of 21 whining to me. My bad, I lived at 21 & Jefferson at the time  I just never went west of Gratiot to know. eta- Tom LaBelle is / was a tree cutting machine |

The two Dunham’s that I frequent in Grand Rapids are getting decent shipments once in a while lately. I scored 6 boxes of Win. 9mm on Saturday. Prices are a little higher now, $15.99 is what I’ve been paying.

I stopped by Brown Bear today out of curiosity. They had 50-round boxes of Fiocchi 5.56 for $60. 200-round cases of PMC with no price marked (I was afraid to ask). 5While I was there, a guy was buying an AR with what looked like about a 2.5-10 scope on it. The counter guy pointed him toward the ammo shelves and had to show him which ammo went with the rifle. $115 for a 5-box bundle (100 rounds) of Federal 55 gr MSR. It did smell kind of funky in there.

I had an ammo question about 4 years ago so I stopped in there (against my better judgement). Grabbed the ammo I had a question about and then stood by the counter for 5 minutes while the two employees ignored me and just kept BS'ing about their weekends. It's been the same way for 30 years. Shocks me they're still in business. |

Ive found good prices on ammo at Rural King in Hartland MI if anyone is near there. It sells out quick though, paid 25c a round for 7.62x39.

Well I live by rural king and was their today as many times a week and they had no ammo not even shot shells and don't know when they will be getting any.
