Does anyone know of a club in the Houston area for beginners (specifically teens) to get started in 3 gun competitions?  We're in the Cypress area and son is wanting to get his foot in the door...

Look around at Thunder Gun Range in Conroe and Dissident arms as well. West Houston Gun club puts a match on @ Impact zone once a month as well. Just show up with what equipment you have and get in where you fit in, and Have fun with it.

I would suggest you take a look at practiscore.com.  You'll be able to find local matches that might be good for him.  

I don't know if any 3 gun specifically aimed at teens.

There's a youth shooting team out towards Cleveland that shoots at Trinity Armory.  It's SASP, similar idea as Steel Challenge.  They mostly concentrate on rimfire but do shoot some centerfire pistol.  It's great for building good fundamentals of shooting. https://lssc.aplos.org/What_We_Do
