If you can find 460 and know east and west, you can find it. ETA: Just1ce brought up a good point I forgot to ask. What do you guys wanna do for targets? He said he has targets and stands, not sure if they are for personal or community tho. FWIW, clays work great out at the 100 as they are very easy to identify hits and even the smaller broken pieces can serve as targets as well.

Just to be clear, I do not have any targets or stands, but I need some anyway, so I will be picking some up. I don't know how much they run, so I will probably not have enough for everyone as $ is tight. So if they are needed for this range (I think the site said they were) then make sure you have something lined up. |

I had a good time. And no one opened up on me during a cold range, so I would say it was a success. I met everybody, but we didn't do much talking, and did a bunch of shooting. Mr. Range rat was also trying to catch my brass. I asked him about using my shotgun, and he said it was alright, as long as I picked up the empty hulls. First time shooting my Mossberg 500 persuader with a pistol grip. First two rounds were 3" magnum 00 buck, first one nearly broke my wrist, second one I lost my grip on the forearm. It was fun blasting apart a cardboard box though. We will definitely have to do this again. As KaBar said, it was empty at noon, but full at 2 when I left.

The earlybirds get there early and are gone by 11. Then you have the after lunch crowd that starts showing up after 1. Between 11 and 1 is a good time to shoot. Hopefully I can make the next one. Did you guys get cold? It can get windy up there. |

Well, I am at Ft Bliss, and Ill be home on Monday, the 26th.
I was wondering, it seems one of the concerns is the vast amount of ppl at the Bburg range. What are weekends like at Potts Mountain? Would you guys wanna try that out maybe? I myself have never been... Also, would you gents be against a November 21st or 22nd meet? There is a home game, but we can try for a noon meet if anyone wants. Other than Thanksgiving, that is the only free weekend so far for me. 
However, I can opt out if you guys would like to meet the weekend before that? There is an away game on the 14th, a Saturday if that is better for you guys. also, I would be very down with a drink and dinner one weekday evening if anyone wants. just post and let everyone know. thanks! |

So I've got my rifle together and im ready to hit up the range. I am headed out there this friday, the 6th in the evening part of the day with some friends, if anyone wants to join up.
The best weekend for me would be the 21st or 22nd. I know their is a tech home game that saturday, but I still would like to shoot a few. So anyone interested, post and let us know. Also, would you guys like to meet up at Bull and Bones to meet and eat? drinks? I look forward to meeting you guys. Joe |

Sorry it's been so long everyone! Dial up internet is no fun. So it seems that November has sort of been a flop.

Any new dates for this? I need to go out there soon and spend some time getting my AR zeroed. All the public outdoor ranges with decent distance are about an hour and a half from me, so I may as well just keep going to this one. I should be getting some new rear irons in the mail today.

I didnt know about that range at blacksburg. Now i know where i can go on the weekends when i have no plans. I saw the picture of the range on their website.....is there an area for pistols on the range? looks like its setup for all 100m rifle shooting......?? or do i just not see it in that picture and is there a spot to setup targets 15 yards out for pistols? |

You pretty much can set up your targets at any range you want, since you provide your own target stands (A lot of people just use old cardboard boxes, others bring actual target stands). |

OK. so lets shoot for Saturday the 20th around 1? (so long as weather permits of course...) bring guns, ammo, and friends. or just yourself. and for those who've never been, they accomodate all firearms. they have burms set up at the 15, 25, 50, 75 and 100 yard posts. |

thats a good question. i would imagine that by now tho they would have plowed it. i went a few weeks ago and it wasnt so nice but any 4WD could get up.

range gate is shut to vehicular traffic. You can walk up, but you'll have to park at the road.
Apparently, some nitwits got stuck yesterday, and after having a bunch of people help his vehicle get unstuck, he then managed to get stuck yet again. A tow truck was called, the tow truck got stuck, and a second tow truck had to be called. This told to me by both the 'old guy' who apparently has the key to the gate, as well as a couple who apparently were the 'nitwits' from the day before. These same folks who after walking most of the way up, then decided to shoot pistols and long guns at the shotgun range because they didn't want to walk the extra 200 feet after having walked the first 1000. I got there shortly after ten, and left around 11:30 when the college aged kids started showing up. |

I got there around 1 and when I left, someone had opened the gate as well and drove up to the shotgun range and was shooting rifle/pistol. I met member turbo_jlewis while i was there tho, pretty nice guy. First time I've met an actual member there. Do you guys wanna plan for March 20th? And maybe as mentioned earlier, a get together for dinner and drinks? |

I'm down for March 20th as long as nothing comes up. A bit much on gas to do food on a different day since I'm a ways away, but don't let me stop you, just sayin I wouldn't make it to dinner during the week. I need to get my new BUIS zeroed in and try out some new ammo, I haven't been shooting since the fall get together. been busy.
