A thread in GD got me to thinking, Why don't we organize a get together here in NM?
Get it rolling now for say, June or July?
It would be a great way to meet new friends and have some fun.

I was thinking somewhere in the Sacramento Mountains. Make it a big camping trip. Everybody brings their own food and shelter.

Agreed. 95% of the active members are Albuquerque or Farmington.

The Farmington boys are gonna have to show you all how its done. Apparently a get together in or near Alb. means no one is showing.

Monzano mountains are mostly privately owned ranches or military training/city buster storage. You can forget that area.

Surely there is somewhere in the Cibola National Forrest.

Trying to get as gepgraphically central as possible.

There is a lot of public land looking at the map, and there are a couple of developed campgrounds in the Mountainair district.

I think a step in the right direction would be smaller localized events such as a shoot on a Sunday. It seems to me that when the abq group tries to get one together nobody can make a decision about a date.

Do a southern shoot. Do a central shoot. Do a northern shoot.
When you do that you will see just how many people don't want to drive even 50 miles.

When you decide to do this your post should be something like...NM hometown forum shoot at xxxxx range on xx-xx-20xx x:xxam

Don't be indecisive. Don't change it because a couple of people can't make it.

The date is open for now, just trying to gauge opinion and get opinions for a location.
I would like activities that whole families would enjoy, not just shooting.
Maybe explore the region by 4x4 one day, some training (first aid, CPR, gun safety, etc) mixed in. Maybe spend some time doing some light hiking.

On the lighter side: My job sucks so bad, I can't commit to a date or time unless it is a couple of months in advance.

Sounds like a good idea to me. but like said above, just set a date and stick with it. With my job, I have to either use vacation, which takes some notice, or if short notice, just wait and see if i've got jobs to run or will be free.

Let me put it this way, I am gonna go camping in some cool mountains this summer. Anyone that wants to is welcome to join me and my family.
I would like to have some of the fine people here join us and we could have a great little greet and meet of whatever. If enough people agree, we would camp somewhere central.

7 people and myself are gonna be takin a week up in the San Pedro Parks Wilderness area (not the street, thought it can get pretty wild there too) around June or July. It's only about a 6-8 mile hike if you want it to be... If any of you guys are interested in joining.

P.S. Frii- Messy room = better things to do there than clean
