Yeah...I live fairly close to it, and try to get out there on a regular basis. Its nice to shoot out there since Sheriff Toney removed all the range nazis the previous sheriff had running the place. However, lately it has been too damn hot! IF the temperature ever gets back under 110 degrees I'll be heading back out.

You're definitely right. I went out there two weekends ago, and almost slapped myself for not bringing Gatorade or water.

I've only been going there for about a year, so I don't know who was there before Sheriff Toney. I'll IM you when I have more time.

Sounds like a plan. I usually go there almost every weekend when I'm home and the weather permits. I also go out to the Prince Gun Range near Oak Grove occasionally. They have some type of competitive shooting out there every weekend, and a 750 yard rifle range. Pretty good folks there too. Here's a link for some info about them if you're interested. I'm going to try and make the vintage military rifle shoot there on Aug. 22nd. They are fun to shoot.

I get up to Union Parish on occasion. A good friend that I use to work with at Monroe PD lives in Hail (aka: Hell, LA). His dad put together a range out by his house that is not too bad. I don't know if it's open to the public, but his dad lets us shoot on it. I think the S.O. up there uses it. It has a 50 yard pistol range and a 300 yard rifle range.

How long have you been here?

About 2 months. I have been doing good on food so far. Superior, Byronz, Pie Works, Herbie K, and lots of little spots in the towns all the way down to Grand Bayou/Zwolle. Had some drinks at a decent spot called the Cub. Haven't really been to any other bars.

I will shoot you guys a message one weekend to see if yall want to shoot. Just got a place so my weekends are filled with moving right now. Appreciate the invites.

The Cub has some pretty good steaks. Me and a bunch of the people I work with drink out of a bar called Stray Cats the most.

I am in Lafayette.

As for the range, it could be worse... One of the hunters started shooting while Ron was downrange some time back. He left after a group of us started yelling at him for opening fire while there was someone downrange.

Edit: I offered to buy Ron a target t-shirt for his last shoot but he respectfully declined.
