Dude, I am not waging war with you. How long has the price of corn held the same? Come on. Downstate IL doesn't make a fraction of revenue the north does.
|
The price of corn has skyrocketed since we stopped importing Canadian beef due to mad cow. Farmers are going to do very well this year. As far as revenue, wanna compare the real estate taxes on a $300k, urban sprawl home to a farmer with a couple thousand acres?
I'm not supporting that, I don't even like anyone here so damnit don't put me in a position to defend this area.
|
I agree, so feel free to stop at any time.
I'm just saying let's keep it real, we need to stop bullshitting ourselves about politicians from down state. Do you know how lethal that thinking is for us? All it takes is one big assed state tax grant to set up somekind of airport or factory in a depressed southern IL area and those pro gun Democrats are going to line up to suck Blago's dick, bet on it.
|
They might broker some deals, but they won't sell out their constituency, particularly on hot button topics like taxes, education, or gun control. Jobs be damned, selling out is the kiss of death down here. That is even more the case when we're talking about Chicago.
Bear in mind that this is the very thing that happened at Mitsubishi, which is about 30 miles away. They got a state loan--did it help Blago, in spite of the PR? How about the loan to Keystone? The I-74 project--does it matter that local contractors got phases 2 and 3, or does everyone instead remember that a Chicago firm with Daley connections got phase 1?
Let's keep it real guys. I'm not making bets with you, that's not what this is about. You can ralley all you want and incite the masses, but Chicago lawyers will whoop your ass time in and time out. This is part of the problem, redneck arrogance. You can't spar in court with slick Chicago politicians dude, be real, and neither can any of your "boys" and neither can I or CK or any of us and thats the problem. We need a united front that is chock full of pros, not good ole boys whooping it up and shouting like the battle of Mannassas. I'm with ya man, just listen to yourself, and listen to me and then ask yourself, which idea sounds more sensible?
|
WTF do Chicago lawyers and court have to do with legislative initiatives? And, FWIW, I suspect CK will strongly disagree with your view that we can't beat them in court--concealcarry has handed them their asses more than once.
I mean no disrespect--frankly, I agree with you more often than not--but you're talking out your ass here. What you're saying does not reflect the reality of what we experience down here. We live here, you don't; how about giving us the benefit of the doubt?
The Republican and Democrat in the state senate race in my district were both NRA "A" rated. The police own evil black rifles, and shoot regularly. Whoever pointed out that Poshard would have been a far better selection than Ryan was dead on.
The detriments of downstate are:
1. As I pointed out previously, Democrats, even pro-gun dems, give majority control to the Chicago machine, and
2. For the most part, the thousands of unmotivated hunters downstate won't get off their asses to oppose a gun law if it doesn't affect something in their closet.
#2 is a point worth addressing. If the commiecrats cut the sections from their AWB that ban popular hunting stuff by accident, we're in deep shit. A lot of pissed off hunters made a big difference in legislator's eyes. If they try to mimic the old federal law, they may well be successful.
