Checking in.
Just got back.
Spent the last two weeks at the family farm property in northern Alabama, which at this moment is getting hammered by Ivan.
Funny how that worked out....but it'll be OK at the farm, I'm sure.
I had a great little vacation at the farm. Saw lots of relative and blew through so much ammo (as I brought ALL the guns and lots of ammo!) that it'll take me a lot of time and money to reload it all.
I'd have to say that I probably had a better time than 98 percent of the other Florida hurricane refugees. The weather's perfect this time of year in Alabama and everything worked out fine.
Damage report: Zero damage to the house. Damage to the pool screen enclosure (screens blown out, structure OK), some trees lost limbs, the fence is hosed (it was getting old anyway) and the really big Ficus in the front yard is almost stripped bare and is leaning at about a ten degree angle.
Not bad, really. A day or two of yard work and then get the fence replaced and things will be pretty close to normal.
Hope it went as well for the rest of you.
