Mrs. Monk has given me a the green light so I am in for the class.
edited to add: UGH! I posted on my wife's account The Bald Monk http://wayofthebaldmonk.net/avatar/master.jpg |

Doh! I just tried sending the_bald_monk an IM and sent it to MrsMonk! Check your wife's IMs.

The class will be all on paper
I will post the course outline in a few days |
So we're just going to draw stuff on paper; no real guns? Damn, that sucks. I even had my ninja outfit dry cleaned. Should we bring our own crayons? |
Can I wear your Second Chance armor to the class since you're going to wear the ninja outfit? |
Dunno. Will it enhance my bulge? |
Ask ByteTheBullet. He's the crotch watcher. |

Only if BookHound includes the socks he stuffs them with. ByteTheBullet (-: |

I would love to take this class if there are any openings and if the Mrs. will permit me.
MUST it be a carbine? Any chance a 21-inch barrel FAL could count as a tactical "battle carbine?"
I really would like to take this class. Jasper is just on the other side of the mountain. Where is the range?
My problem is I don't have a pistol. Is it necessary? I had to sell my Kember to buy my Ar-10 and haven't had the chance to replace it. And hopefully I'll get a sling from LarryG on the 11th. |
I'll have extra gear, including weapons and mags. I'm sure Mike won't mind if you use an FAL.
The guy next to ya will. |

A 308 caliber battle rifle would not be appropriate for for this class.
We will be doing a lot of shooting while moving and multiple shot/target drills. You can use a pistol caliber carbine if you wish as we will be working from 50 yards and in mostly Mike |
Thanks for clearing that up Mike.
If anyone needs to borrow a carbine, let me know before the class. And if you do borrow a rifle from me, no steel-cased or re-loaded ammo please. If you blow it up, you bought it. |
Is the switch included? |
Edited due to vacillating mind.
I dunno yet, either this or the RBGC Action Pistol. aarrggh. choices, choices. |
wharfrat, if Mike doesn't have a problem with me loaning out rifles, I've got one you can use. Want a carbine with an Aimpoint and BUIS, or a carbine with an A2 upper?
I've got mags you can borrow also. |
Wow, Bookhound Thanks,
That's not a question you get asked everyday. I would be happy with anything. I am trying to figure out what kind of optic system to install on my riffle. Right now I'm leaning toward a scout riffle. Anyway thanks alot and count me in. I just need directions. |
wharfrat, I'll have a couple different rifles with me and you can pick what you want to use. Mags too. I'll post directions later, but for now Mapquest Talking Rock, GA and it will get you a good idea.
I'm really excited about the class. Talking Rock is right down the road. See you there.
Is there any space left in the class? Let me know if there are two or three slots availiable.
From Australia The Azalin |
The more the merrier. Hell, if there are too many guys on the line I'll just watch and take pictures. Call me when you get back in town. |
Azalin,
I am looking forward to one of those Campus Republican shoots. |
we can handle 12 shooters.
if someone would like to make a list of those who want to shoot that would be helpful |
Bradd_D confirmed
Muddy confirmed 00bullitt +1 confirmed (his +1 is in, but he is willing to give up his spot to new shooter) MadcapMagician +2 confirmed COLT6721A3 (interested) Accountant30339 confirmed MadDogDan confirmed gsu2720 confirmed The_Bald_Monk confirmed CrazyBosnian (might) MacAttack (if opening) wharfrat (interested) Azalin + 1 or 2 (if openings) Well, after going through the thread I've com up with this list. If there are corrections, someone please let me know where I goofed. Since the list shows more than 12 people, we really need FIRM commitments. I listed people in the order in which I believe they committed. I have no problem just observing this time around to let someone new have a chance. Therefore, I took my name off the list but I WILL be there. Mike, I'm more than happy helping you out in any way. COLT6721A3, you expressed interest and asked questions, so I'd love to hear from you on your intentions. Honestly, if this were like an EE transaction I'd have to say you did not yet committ. So everyone, please respond in here again with a firm commitment. Thanks! Mark edit to show confirmed and those who dropped. edit 03/21/06 |
This is my official "I'm in". All other posts were veiled commitments.
I hate to bail on the festivities, but I happened to be between two semis that wanted to hit each other on the 1st. I'm not dead, but I'm definetely not able to do any classes for a while. I will be back hopefully sooner rather than later.
I'm still waiting for a good opportunity to hit the boss up for the last saturday of the month off
I'll either confirm or bow out in a couple of days, hopefully it wont be a problem. |
Please mark The Bald Monk as "Confirmed"
Thanks The Bald Monk http://wayofthebaldmonk.net/avatar/master.jpg |
Madcapmagician +2 is definitely confirmed. Cleared too much stuff to not make it...
I as well do not mind being in the class but will help with the line if more room is needed in the class. But my +1 is still a definite.
Well, I'm out. I cant get the last retail Saturday of the month off. Wish I could make it. Take some good pics for me BH

Google Map from ATL to Talking Rock.
I'd really like to come as a spectator. I'd be too intimidated to actually participate. I'm going to try and convince the wife to make it a family affair. It'll be a great chance to expose the 2 year old to some shootin'. Are 2 year old spectators allowed? He has ear protection. We even have a 'toddler leash' though we've never had cause to use it. What can be expected, for a spectator? In other words, what can I tell my wife to convince her that she'd have a good time (she already likes guns, so that's not a problem) and that a 10 hour round trip would be worth her time? Is there a decent bathroom nearby? That seems to be her biggest concern whenever I plan an outing. I don't pretend to understand it. |
I am afraid the range is not a place for a 2 year old
There are no bathrooms just an outhouse but there are a lot of antique shops in talking rock for the wife |
Sorry, Rossi, I completely had a brain fart.
Rossi had contacted me as soon as Mike set the date for this thing. Like Muddy, he had committed to the class outside of this thread. I'll update the list later to reflect that. Sorry buddy. |
If space available, I confirm. Will catch a ride with MadDog. Shot the thing before, but never had access to a class.
