I'm considering either the XDM .45 with a 4.5" barrel or the Mod.2 with a 5" barrel but I'm a bit confused about the differences between the two models...

Aside from the grips and sights are there any significant feature/design differences between them?

Quality/durability/reliability wise, are they the same?

The XDM is about $15-$20 more than the Mod.2 even though the Mod.2 seems to have better sights and improved grip ergos so I'm trying to understand what I might be missing?

The mod 2 has the grip zone. I'd go with that.
