Looking for a nice set of rosewood grips for a couple of my 1911’s also, who’s making good quality faux ivory these days?

You forgot the /thread lol.

Those are basically the best option. Any others are unproven and/or foreign in manufacture and an unknown quality.

If faux-ivory isn't a specific, then VZ, Wilson Combat (if you don't mind the medallions), Altamont and LOK Grips are also great options.

VZ Grips
Simonich grips.  Sadly Rob passed away awhile ago and they are pretty tough to find.

These came from Rogers Guns and Grips he doesn’t make the grips has other makers do so not sure who. However the fit and feel of these Giraffe are quite nice. He has several different exotics to choose from I was torn as I wanted Red Stag but these really caught my eye. I also liked the Rams Horn he has available.

I'll second the vote for custom grips by Esmerelda.  I have them on my Dan Wesson Guardian.

Since you mentioned wood, I'll share a few of my favorites that are slightly out of the beaten path:

Newest Curt Ullery's:

High Figure Grips:

And for grins, Mammoth from SK Grips:

Something I like about Wood Caliber grips is that they support the plunger tube well and work with longer thumb safeties.

I have Wood Caliber on my DW.    I bought some Esmeralda thin grips and thought they were garbage, pics deceived me as to what I got. Freaking ugly ass things.    Tried to sell them here at a heavy discount and could not give them away, chucked em in the trash.  Such a waste.     High figure are nice, but he honestly ask way to much for what they are compared to Wood Caliber.

All that said, beauty is in the eye of the beholder.

Always liked plain old utilitarian VZ grips.

Aherns tactical, if you can find them.
Unfortunately, the company is no longer in business

I'm extremely sad that I sold my ebony grips, when I changed the slide color....

+1 Nothing fancy, affordable but works! Really sad that Herrett's is out-of-business.
