Looking for a longslide 10mm for some hunting and general shooting. Glock 40mos, Iver Johnson Eagle xl, Kimber Ls target (though I've had the Kimber curse before), etc? Trying to keep it under a grand but we'll see. Ability to handle full power loads a plus.
Any thoughts. Thanks. |

I have a Glock 40 MOS and love it. Handles full power ammo just fine. That should easily fit your needs.

Can't go wrong with the Glock 40. Trigger is gtg out of the box, but can easily be upgraded if that is your thing. Readily accepts an optic like the Trijicon RMR. Easily under $700 OTD. Spend the extra $300 on ammo. Federal makes a Trophy Bonded bullet that easily does double duty for 4 and 2 legged critters.

RIA "Big Rock." Great gun and it's much more comfortable to shoot than my son's Glock. He owns both.

Les Baer has a new 10mm Long slide.
As an owner of a couple different Glock 10mm (among other glocks) and a few .45acp Les Baers, if I were to buy a Long 10mm, I’d probably opt for the Les Baer 10mm over just about any other 10mm. Glocks are cool and all... ALOT of high power bullets in a little package and a red-dot equipped 40MOS would be a great hunting companion. But their .45 and 10mm frames are friggin bricks. They feel like bricks. Their as heavy as a brick, They look like bricks. The only thing they don’t have in common like bricks is that a Glock rattles more than a brick when you shake it. If you can swallow the price, get the Bear 10mm |
|
I have the Glock 41MOS (45acp) with a 10mm drop in barrel. Its a tad smaller than the 40 (0.6" shorter and slide is as thin as the 9mm models), but the drop in barrel is threaded and at least as long as the 40 barrel. So you don't lose any precious FPS, but the gun is a bit more portable.

Remington R1 longslide hunter These are nice guns that get overlooked because of Remingtons other pistol lines.
Ruger 1911's are nice but not longslide. Ruger Super Redhawk might be the strongest 10mm. I have a G40 and like it alot. |

The AMT Javelina is a 7” 10mm Longslide. Same basic gun as the hardballer longslide from Terminator. People will cry about galling and stuff but a little light grease on the slide rails prevents that- especially in a hunting application, where you’re not putting 300+ rounds through it at a sitting between cleanings.
Not super easy to find as AMT and Galena Industries have both gone out of business, but I’d still like to get one too. |

Fwiw, several stores have the Glock 41 mos (10 round ban state model) for $470. At that price, you can get the gun, the 10mm barrel, a 10mm mag, a pack of 13 round 45acp mags, and a red dot all for under a grand.

If you`re going to be using this gun for hunting I would say get something bigger like .40-Super or .460 Roland. 200 grain .40 at 1400 FPS or 230 grain .45 at 1400 FPS in a semi-auto is pretty awesome.

I believe this is the USA one and this is the austrian one, both in the $470 range. I special ordered my barrel from kkm a while back. While I had them on the phone, they said it was a somewhat popular request and would be adding it to their website to purchase directly. https://preview.ibb.co/huTLFV/Screen-Shot-2018-11-23-at-11-06-30-AM.png https://preview.ibb.co/gPOnvV/Screen-Shot-2018-11-23-at-11-06-50-AM.png https://preview.ibb.co/k4HEaV/Screen-Shot-2018-11-23-at-11-07-16-AM.png View Quote Thanks for posting that up! |

I'm pretty happy with my G40 MOS.
Attached File My next 10mm will probably be either the Sig TacOps or the Remington R1 long slide. |

G40 ordered. Will probably pic up that Witness Hunter later.

Couple hundred more you can get a Dan Wesson Razorback 10mm. Otherwise the g40 is a great gun.

Good decision, OP. Having sixteen rounds (or more with mag extensions) of 10mm on hand with the Glock is a great feeling.

I wonder if they left the rail off to discourage jack lighting deer, or the perception that it will be done. I know some states have laws against hunting with lights attached to firearms. Even at noon. Or maybe it's significantly stronger. |

Dan Wesson Bruin in 10mm. It is a finely crafted piece of art. Go hold one.

What rmr sight would y'all get? Anyone use the green triangle for hunting?
|

I'm rockin the always on non adjustable trijicon RMR on my G41. Its plenty visible in any light I've tried it in. You have to buy an extra $10 plate to put the trijicon on a glock MOS. Its required for it to be water tight or some crap.
If you aren't set on the trijicon, the burris fastfire 3 is really nice for the money. You can change the battery without taking it off the gun and the bezel/frame is less beefy than the trijicon. |
