I am looking to purchase at least 2 Glock 9mm handguns to put up for the future. Im not interested in collecting them, these will be “just in case” guns for the future.
I currently carry a G48 and have carried used Glocks for over 25years. I stocked up pretty heavy on G17 mags and prefer a full sized grip. What would be your suggestion and why? |

G19X
It has a G17 frame and a G19 slide.also has optic cut. I to prefer the larger frame |

AFAIK, not all 19X have the slide milled for optic. 19X MOS does.
I'm pretty fond of my G45. I prefer the full-size grip and have way too many 17 mags. |

In that situation, I would go the store and check out the G45 and the G47.
After deciding which mine suited my needs better, I would get two and set them up both identically. |

To be honest
Go rent/borrow a 17/45/19x/47 and see which you shoot better That's the one you buy I have 45 and 17 and love them both |

I will be the odd man out, and suggest trying both a 19 and 26. Yes of course they have shorter grips. But you can still use the 17 mags you have in them if needed. I find the wat I grip a 26 ( small finger curled under the base plate of the mag “ locks “ the gun into my grip very effectively, and shoot a 26 better than the larger versions. If I was to have a single 9mm it would be a 26. Even if you find you like the 17 length grip better, having a spare subcompact for situations where the 17 size guns might be a bit much to conceal, the 26 is a great solution

View Quote G19 makes the most sense for a "just in case" gun, especially in a darker future where either gun control or real SHTF makes concealability a priority. It also pairs perfectly with the G44 as a training gun, another SHTF consideration. G19 also provides the easiest Glock to re-sell or trade, either now or in a black market. G49 / G45 provides max modularity between the 2. G34 makes the most sense for a future where velocity is a priority, either getting expansion from mediocre/DIY JHPs, or driving non lead solids to AP velocities. G45 / G34 provides the most contrast while sharing mags. |

I feel like everyone should be forced to own a g19 and ar15.
I would suggest a g19. The upside of the g19 is you can use g17 mags and g19 mags. Mo mags mo betta |

Used G17's are CHEAP. Like police trade in G17 at $320 with three magazines cheap.
Golk 22's are even cheaper at $288. Buy one and add a 9mm barrel to the stash. |

The 45 is not a black 19x. There are several key differences in the two.
You can't go wrong with a Gen 5 19. A Gen 5 45 is great also. a Then again, a Gen 5 34 would be a great all around pistol. |

I just like the versatility of the g47 gen 5. I run the g47 lower with a 19 slide. It just fits and shoots great for me. Plus I have a g17 and plenty of mags.

I love the 34. It's probably my favorite for actually shooting. It's a bit large to carry most of the year, but it isn't too heavy to carry, which I appreciate.
If you are going to stick with irons, I say go with the 34. You can always add a 17 slide later if you want something shorter. I really love most Glocks except for the 26. The 45 and 19x are on my list, I can see the appeal, but I'm not sure why I'd want to buy a 47 over a 17. |

Your hearts desire. Whatever caliber you like.
I own most Glocks but, no .40 in my inventory. Never warmed to it and could’ve bought those guns at the cheap and don’t want it. . Why?? Nope. 9mm is where Glock has always xcelled, not to mention 10mm and .45acp and.357. No need for .40. Never have. Get what you like. Add: Glocks and specialized ammo. 9mm what?? I have been buying them when they were not near as popular as today. NATO ammo specs have not changed.. If I had two 9mm’s I’d go heavy hitter, 10mm in a handgun. |

I went through this exact scenario and here's what I have so far:
17 Gen 4: Larger size 19 Gen 5: Smaller size for CC, but still nice capacity 19x: Perfect hybrid of the 2, and also my G17 Gen 4 mags fit If I could only choose 2 it would probably be the 19 and 19x. The larger size 17 may be slightly more accurate at distance, but not enough to justify the size difference IMO. I would also love to add a 45 as well, but was pleasantly surprised that my 17 mags fit the 19x so I may be good for now. Looking pretty seriously at the 43x and 26 now, to add something a lot more concealable. OP I would probably suggest: 1. 19x or 45 for nightstand/ hip carry 2. A smaller, more concealable one like a 26 or 43x |

My only Glock currently is the Gen5 G19 Perfected Model, or as they refer to it in company literature; the G49.

I’d get either a 47/19 or a 45/49 combo for modular capability.
