Looking to get a new .22 pistol as a training gun for kids and new shooters, eventually working up into full size Glocks, Smith's, Walthers and the like.  I have read great things about both the M&P compact and the PPQ 22.  So...which one does the collective mind here recommend?

Own them both, they both are fantastic suppressed or not.

Own M&P 22 full size and compact.  Both are fun plinkers.

Compact shoots all brands of ammo I've tried and it's decently accurate within 15-20 yards.  Trigger is good; I removed the magazine safety which I think helped a little.

I bought two M&P compacts for teaching my kids to shoot. Main reason I went with it was because we already had a M&P9 in the house.

I own the PPQ 22 and my buddy I shoot with all the time has the SW MP 22 compact.  I think you would be happy with either.  Can't report on suppressed but he has one that should be clearing in next couple months, I'll report back.
