Sorry if this is a little off topic. I don’t mean to turn this thread into a bitch about Springfield thread but I figured it was a bit relevant and people should be aware of this if they are trying to make a clone. The pictures on Springfields website as well as all distributors I’ve looked at still show the original roll marks. There’s no mention of any changes, but this appears to be the new thing. Obviously I would want to know what the thing I’m spending money on looks like before I make the decision to purchase 
I have a hunch that maybe the Cali compliant models will continue to be the old roll marks since I believe any kind of changes to the gun including markings would remove it from their roster thing. I wouldn’t buy without having it confirmed with pictures or inspecting it in person though. |

| I know it's subjective....but would you guys modify an original G.I. frame? I came across one and I am on the fence as to whether or not I modify it for the Ed Brown grip safety. I know it all depends on how far down the rabbit hole I want to take the build but any advice would be great. |

The Vickers Guide: 1911 has good pics of the ICQB on pages 294-301. This picture appears on 300-301.
There is an outstanding picture of the ICQB on page 147 of Edward Scott Meadows US Military Automatic Pistols (1945-2012) that shows the pistol in delivered form from Kimber and the replacement parts. It'd be hard to source a pair of original Gunner Grips, but the VZ Simonich Grips are just about perfect.

I bought a new Springfield Loaded last month with the intention of it becoming an inexpensive MEUSOC copy.
I swapped out the FLGR for a GI one and some Pachmyers and went to the range. I could not hit anything I was aiming at, in stark contrast to my Colt CCG. Just in case it was the thicker grips, I bought a .45 cal laser boresight gadget and it seems that the bore is way high and to the right of the sights. I also bought a small pistol bench to shoot off of to confirm, however it's been raining on every day off I've had. I plan on documenting both the laser and some 230gr ball not going where I am aiming and then submitting it for a warranty claim. Really my only concern is that they may replace my slide with the new roll marks. |

It begins...
Not an exact clone (EGW NM bushing, Kart NM barrel, Lippard hammer/sear, etc.) but going for a Variant 2 look. The Kart barrels shoot great; I intend to melonite this barrel. When I took the photos, I hadn’t removed the innards yet; the stock disconnector was an asymmetric turd. Sights, grip safety and safety are bar-stock from KCs. Edit: getting the earlier pattern grip (692-545-245/GM-45C).

| What flat mainspring housing with lanyard loop is everyone using right now? The only aftermarket one I see is the S&A one, and I've tried several of them and didn't like how they fit at all. They all appeared to be too "sunken in" in the frame and in some occasions, the mainspring pin holes didn't line up on my Springfields. |
