This thread keeps popping up and I've read a bit here and there but haven't followed it. From what I have read the springfield loaded is a good canadate for the MEU clone. I ordered the book. MARSOC: U.S. Marine Corps Special Operations Command to read after seeing it posted on pg 82. Other then the laynard loop and grips how close is my pistol below? It was purchased new in 2015 if I remember correct. Came with the Springfield hard case and a bunch of extras in the case. Reason the slide looks brand new is I shoot this mostly suppressed and have a slide/barrel combo I slap on it for shooting. Not to mention the factory barrel won't feed my hard cast reloads but the Colt M45-A1 I own and my M10 transferable love them. ( I know I could correct that I just don't since it has no problems with my FMJ loads ) Anyways figured I'd ask how close it is before starting on page 1 and taking a few days to read through it while I wait on the book to arrive.

Thak you. Tried looking for a set of those Pachmayr G45 rubber wraparound combat grips, Yesterday. No luck. Thank you for the list of what is left for this pistol. Started reading from page one yesterday. Only draw back with this pistol is the flared bull barrel and bushing that it came with. And needing a allen wrench for the guide rod. It's the reason I have a whole other slide for my octane 45 I can't just slap a threaded barrel into it without replacing a bunch of parts that make it a LOADED series. |

If that has a bull barrel then it wouldn't have a bushing. At least I've never seen it. Also, you could just add a gi plug |

Bull barrels are very uncommon for the 5" Loaded models unless you're talking about the V-ported or sub-5" guns like the Loaded Champion / Loaded Compact, etc., and the barrel in the photograph is a standard bushing barrel. The Springfield 2-piece guide rods are indeed annoying, especially because they stick out past the bushing so far / you cannot rotate the bushing without disassembling the guide rod, but that's fairly cheap and easy to replace with a 1-piece guide rod, either GI-length or FLGR. Granted, there's nothing wrong with having another complete slide (except for the risk that it eventually grows into another gun...  ) and personally I prefer having a complete "swap top" with a FLGR from a convenience standpoint, which essentially becomes a more or less complete, unified assembly (like an AR upper) that you can just slide on the frame and pop the slide stop in, rather than having to strip or disassemble anything else / find somewhere to put / store excess parts for any guns that I intend to regularly swap anything involved in the "upper" for, however, particularly with a GI guide rod system (which is also more "accurate" to this thread) swapping from an unthreaded to threaded barrel shouldn't be all that difficult, provided both are properly fit. ~Augee |
