It's not quite the return of the prodigal son, but lucked into a brand new Springfield Loaded Park'ed for a "couldn't refuse" price on GB, and decided to throw some more "MEU(SOC)-y" parts on it while I decide what I want to do with it / start really cutting on it: Ultra low-effort "clone," and not even remotely "correct," but it looks the part from an arm's length.  Only things I did were to replace the grips with a set of Pachmayrs (but they're semi-rare in that they're the discontinued ones with the additional thumbswells and magwell "lip"? ), replace the MSH with a checkered lanyard loop MSH, and swap out the Springfield two-piece FLGR for a GI-style recoil assembly. And a Wilson 47 (no "D") magazine.  Also threw on the pre-production sample MachineCraft Replicas Mr.o7 Surefire MR07 clone with an old-school "OG" X300: I also ordered a Major Kong "Mister Seven" and I want to try to compare the replicas to my original MR07 (as well as each other). Not really planning to build another "clone" of the MEU / M45, mostly because I've decided that front strap checkering and a high cut front strap are pretty much non-negotiable for me (it also occurs to me that since this thread started I've gotten 7 screws and a titanium plate put into my wrist, which thankfully has healed almost entirely, but the main lingering side-effect is that I've become much more sensitive about "gripfeel" than I was before), but I've been thinking about doing another "concept" build, maybe a "MEU-D," basically a slightly modernized mash-up of a MEU(SOC) .45 and Delta-style gun. ~Augee |

I’m honestly beginning to wonder if that pistol is not one of the Professionals, just heavily worn and re-worked, but it doesn’t look like a Caspian slide to me any longer. I think what threw me off initially was the ring hammer, however we’ve seen re-worked Pros with King’s safeties and magwell deletes, not to mention the FCS milling, it’s not impossible that one had had to have the hammer / ignition parts re-worked and replaced at some point. However that front sight is definitely a Springfield / Kensight OEM not a Novak profile and the narrow serrations appear to match the PWS serrations seen on other Professionals. It’s hard to tell, but to me the grip safety “tail” looks like it has more of an “upsweep” than not just the Clark/Wilson used on earlier variants, but also the Ed Brown—it looks very much like a Springfield OEM grip safety which “hooks” back up almost to slide level, whereas the Brown terminates a little lower relative to the slide. Finally, based on the wear pattern on the frame compared to the pistol under it / closer to the camera, I think I could convince myself that that particular pistol has the distinctive early Springfield “fat” frame with the taller vertical flat on the dustcover above the frame radius. The fifth pistol from the bottom looks more or less identical as well from what can be seen, which is unfortunately not much, but you can see the “short” FCS and Springfield/Kensight Low-Mount style sights as opposed to the Millett/PWS sights on the other pistols. Yeah, my understanding is if the pistol is on the roster, they can't even change the rollmarks. When I got my Mil-Spec awhile back I sought out a NIB CA compliant model. Even got a good deal on it. Almost looking like a SACS contract MEU(SOC), just have no interest in lanyard loop or forward cocking serrations. Never say never, though...
