On a whim, I bought this 82 from Centerfire. This is the ugliest firearm I own.





Contacted Taurus, they know nothing.  From poking around the internet, it’s anywhere from 1970’s to 1984. Tight lock up, shoots well.

The finish? Almost looks like it started life as a blued revolver, then someone tried to put a chrome finish on. The side plate has been off, looking at the screws.  

Ideas for a new finish? Probably not worth bluing again, even in pristine condition, it’s a 350.00 gun.

Just have someone slap some graphite black Cerakote on it. Something like that when I was spraying would have been $100-$150.

Send it to CCR. If anyone can restore it to a relatively nice looking pistol, they can.

Have a qualified revolver smith go through the internals before you blow any more money, to see if Bubba buggered it up when he took off the sideplate. if it's good, then Cerakote or even parkerize.
