There are quite a number of surplus Italian police Beretta 92S pistols available here.

Since I dont know very much about the Beretta 92 series, I thought I would come here and ask a few questions.

1. How durable is the 92S locking block?
2. Can the latest Model 92 locking block be used in the 92S?
3.  Can the safety of 92S be modified to become a decocker? ( Like the G model)

Thank you

1.  Very with non +P ammo
2.  Yes
3.  Yes, Some minor fitting may be required for very early 92S models 92S and SF to 92G parts

18Z50...Are guns still legal in the 51st State?

Answers in red, plus the gun isn't a combloc CZ. It is a real gem.

Almost bought one a few years back...

I have one. Bought it new a long time ago, fewer than 400 rounds through it for sure. I put on LOK thin grips and kept the walnut ones. Got a couple of extra MecGar 15 rounders. It is a very nice pistol.

Have been thinking of selling or maybe trading it for a 92FS (so I would use it more without worrying about scuffing it up or otherwise lessening its value); didn't realize there was interest in these.

Advice?

My first center fire semi auto pistol was a 92s. I bought it just before the mil adopted the Beretta.
My poor mind... if I recall I switched to DAO springs that lightened the trigger pull. Mags were hard to find with the notch for a heel mag release but a little file work adapted 92fs mags.
When I eventually bought a 92 fs I gave the other to a friend for Christmas.
Smooth, reliable and classic although too large to conceal. Home D and range gun.

I have 5 of them.

Delightful to shoot.

Atrocious sights.

Smaller (length and height) than a 4” Smith and Wesson revolver. Maybe a millimeter thicker.

Coming in late, but I'm wondering just how much "hand fitting" is necessary to put the G decocker on an S?

Everything I've read to this point has said the G parts are incompatible with the 92S.  Has anyone actually done this, and can you explain how?

I've always wanted a 92FS, but they look huge.  I read somewhere that they are not too different than a Glock 19 in size.  Is that true?  The 19 is about as bulky as I would want to carry.

Thanks

I am most definitely not an expert when it comes to concealed carry.

But you would be surprised at how easily a big heavy gun can be concealed with a heavy duty gun belt and the right holster.

Here's a CZ-97B in an Eric Larsen holster. (HBE Gunleather)

Now this is a real beast of a gun. It's a lot heavier than a Beretta 92S. In fact the CZ97B weighs around 45oz when fully loaded.

Anyway, with a Hanks Extreme gunbelt this combination can be comfortably carried.

If you like the Beretta 92, you could easily use it for concealed carry with a similar holster and belt

People like to complain about the 92 series being "too big."

Compared to a full-size Glock

There used to be a series of photos showing the grip circumference, etc. A G17 and a 92FS are basically the same.

Thank you for illustrating it.  He's wearing a proper gun belt and his holster is pulling the gun tight towards his body.

That whole setup just looks comfortable and concealable.

That's me wearing my S&W 586 no-dash.

I also have no issue lugging around an old model 5.5 inch Ruger Bisley Vaquero.

Yet one holds 17 and one holds 15.  A more accurate comparison is against a Glock 19.  For what it is the 92S is huge.
