My gunsmith (great guy, experienced, very competent) says he will need to make a new tool to remove the original bushing from my TSO, it will be expensive, and he doesn’t want to charge me. He’s trying to install a new CGW 10X bushing. Wants me to ship it to CGW. Please advise how to remove the bushing. Any videos, tools, advice, instructions?
I don’t want to ship this to CGW.

Ship it anyway. It's not a big deal to ship firearms to specialists that are devoted to doing specific work. You end up with a world class outcome. I have tried local gunsmiths on several occasions and have been disappointed more times than not. I have had to send things out to "real" gunsmiths to get them repaired after they worked on them.

I do 90% of my own gunsmithing at home. I am not fast, but I am meticulous. The only things I send away are machining jobs and I use known gunsmiths that are highly regarded. One local guy is world class, but has a six year waiting period for back orders and isn't accepting new work. He is not cheap.

Quality work is worth the wait. The end product will be something that you love and are proud to own.

After getting some advice on a CZ forum, I’ve decided not to install the new bushing. For a shooter of my skill, I would never know the difference. The gun is superb as is. Why not leave it alone?

Good call.

The best investment anyone can make to improve their shooting is dry fire practice and more range time.

I disagree. I think a 10x bushing is critical.

I bought my TSO used and it had the original bushing installed. When I removed it, it had been worn through and there was in fact wear on the inside of the slide caused by the barrel after it had worn through the bushing. Once I replaced the bushing, it was no cause for concern.

It was pretty easy to remove, just find a socket that will fit into the slide but larger than the bushing (I forget size). Then hammer the socket to drive the bushing out the front. Just be sure to remove the roll pin securing the front sight first.

First - if you're happy with the groups, why replace the bushing?  The groups (if you're a good shot and your pistol likes the ammo you're using) will tell you if a bushing is needed.  Most of my CZs have not needed it.  A couple have.

Second - for the CZ75s that I replaced the bushing on I used an 11 MM 1/4" drive socket and extension and a hammer.  Unload, field strip, remove the front sight pin/sight, turn the slide upside down, insert the 11MM socket into the slide and push it forwards till it contacts the barrel bushing.  Then grab the 1/4" drive extension and place the end against the back of the socket, then hit the extension with the hammer.  Once it starts moving it'll take less force to keep it moving.

Inserting the new bushing you'll have to keep it oriented so that the front sight pin will be in that small groove (sight pin holds the front sight and the barrel bushing in the slide.)  Use a rubber/soft faced hammer to insert the new bushing fully into the slide.  Then the front sight and a NEW front sight pin.  You might be able to reuse the front sight pin - but why?  You probably damaged it a little when you used the punch to drive it out, so just use a new one.  They are pretty cheap.

Most CZ75s won't really benefit from the bushing.  That's just my opinion.

I used a socket that fit it correctly and hammered it out with a punch.  Mine was worn and the barrel was fairly loose fitting.  I did not do the bushing on my back-up gun as it had much fewer rounds and didn't have the loose barrel yet.
