Anyone use a mag case / holster for spare mag carry or just throw them in your pocket?

I go with comfort and retention over looks for IWB and have several single and double holders. Much more accessible than pocket carry, but I occasionally pocket carry a spare mag.

Either jmcustom or bawidaman for me.

Or a safariland cd-2 at 12oclock when carrying revolvers.

I prefer Kydex single mag carriers, cut low and with a channel not a belt clip.

I'd name a manufacturer but they seem to come and go.

12 o'clock. Fits over/under your zipper? That just seems uncomfortable.

@SideCarGT
I carry my gun aiwb and there's a little gap inside the pants right infront of the holster. Fits perfect.

@03RN
Wouldn’t have thunk it, but I don’t aiwb so no space built in for me. Sounds like it isn’t uncomfortable for you.

Certainly have practiced with it.

I was not a big fan when I first got one. Now it is what I use 90% of the time. The other 10% is a single iwb kydex or owb  kydex that were both homemade

Safariland 123 - velcro wrap that attaches to your belt and holds mag horizontally. Not the quickest for a reload, but comfortable and unobtrusive.

Yep. I have one. A bit expensive for what they are (paying for the name ...) but they are good, and as said, comfortable and unobtrusive.

If I’m carrying my G43, I run it in a 3:00 IWB and throw the spare mag in my left pocket.  It’s a tiny single stack magazine, so there’s no reason to run that in a pouch.
If I’m carrying my G45MOS, I will carry AIWB with a Phlster Floodlight and a spare 17rd mag in a Phlster Flex magazine pouch

This is what l tend to use.

It keeps the magazines upright in the pocket and lint and stuff out of them.

I've never found a way to comfortably wear a mag pouch inside the wasteband. This is comfortable.

Either a spare mag or a Bianchi speed strip in my left front pocket. I have been carrying my J frame appendix in a Bladetech holster over my M&P 9c. The majority of my mag carriers are inconvenient for quick mount/dismount and always seem to get in the way no matter what I am doing.

Depending on weather and how I’m dressed...

Typically JM Custom Kydex single pouch or two for work or cold months

Operation Dinner Out.... Neo Mag

A spare magazine is a good idea for a few reasons:

1.  Extra ammo if needed.
2.  Magazines are mechanical devices that can possibly fail.  Having a back up magazine is no different than having a spare tire for your vehicle.
3.  If for some reason the magazine becomes released or dislodged from your pistol, you have another magazine readily available.

I suppose I could launch into "If you carry the pistol empty without a magazine in it because it is safer, having an extra magazine insures that when you draw your pistol, you have at least one magazine you can insert into the pistol to load it."   Folks who like empty chambers might like doing this...it isn't for me though.  Sort of one step beyond the Israeli carry idea.

I use mag carriers for everything but my G43. That spare mag gets stuck in the little mag pocket of my 5.11 jeans. Fits perfectly!
