I found a old S&W revolver. It has a 6 digit serial number, no letters. 38 Special. Bottom of grip and cylinder serial number match. First 3 of numbers are 536. Any help is appreciated.

Based on that info, it's probably an M&P from the mid 1920s. But without pictures no one can be sure 100%.

There will be a letter prefix (probably) before the number.

C or a K for instance.

How about that letter and the numbers after it up to the last 3 digits.
